Writer Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a writer in Georgia?
Writing is not a licensed profession in Georgia, so there is no state board, exam, or registration required to work as a writer. Most Georgia employers expect a bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, or a related discipline, along with a strong portfolio of professional or published work. Many writers in Georgia build their portfolios through university programs at Georgia State University, the University of Georgia, or Savannah College of Art and Design before moving into staff or agency roles.
Which companies hire writers in Georgia?
Companies currently hiring writers in Georgia include Mondelēz International, Walmart, and BOLDSCIENCE, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Georgia's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, major media companies, and a growing technology sector in metro Atlanta means staff writer and content strategist roles appear consistently across multiple industries.
Which Georgia cities have the most writer jobs?
Atlanta, Savannah, and Alpharetta have the most writer openings in Georgia. Atlanta drives the majority of demand as the state's economic hub, home to large corporate headquarters, advertising agencies, and media organizations, while Savannah and Athens generate openings through their universities, arts industries, and regional business communities that support steady content and communications hiring.
Are there remote writer jobs in Georgia?
Yes, and more than most fields. Writing is a highly remote-compatible role, and about 50% of writer openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly employers have adopted flexible arrangements for content work. Technical writing, UX writing, and content strategy roles tend to have the highest share of fully remote positions among Georgia-based writer openings.
How can I get hired as a writer in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building a portfolio through freelance projects, university publications, or volunteer communications work before applying to junior or associate content roles. Georgia employers such as Cox Media Group, large Atlanta-area healthcare systems, and regional marketing agencies regularly hire editorial assistants, content coordinators, and junior copywriters who can show relevant samples even without full-time experience. Completing a certificate in digital marketing or content strategy from a Georgia institution also strengthens applications for candidates who lack a traditional writing degree.
Where can I find and apply to writer jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to writer jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current Georgia openings across industries and experience levels. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly to each one.
