The successful candidate will help the customer design and rapidly execute strategic migrations to the AWS cloud and build modern, cloud native solutions that fulfill their highest ambitions. You will work backwards from customer objectives, utilize AWS best practices developed over thousands of engagements, and design and execute an end-to-end frictionless cloud adoption experience. Your customers capture the full potential of AWS’ industry-leading solutions. As a CSM, you are a thought leader with a strategic, business mindset. You use your technical acumen, program management, organizational change management, and communication skills to problem solve, challenge the status quo, and align a broad range of multidisciplinary teams including sales, solution architecture, enterprise support, product development, professional services, and partners.
In this role, you will earn trust across the customer’s organization, identify strategic opportunities, uncover cloud use cases, establish roadmaps and actionable program plans, capture success criteria, manage a large number of initiatives across the diverse portfolio of businesses, orchestrate advanced technical architectures, and establish programmatic governance. You own and drive execution excellence for the end-to-end customer cloud journey (e.g., technical, operational, organizational, and educational) that span IT teams, executives, and business units.

We want employees who enjoy what they do, and do what they enjoy at work, at home and beyond. We encourage our team members to partner with their managers to strike the right balance.
AWS is a growth environment - we’re hiring and scaling rapidly to meet the needs of our internal and external customers. You’ll have the opportunity to grow your scope of influence naturally as we scale, deliver initiatives that make an impact and allow you to build your skills, and will have the opportunity to help hire & develop other leaders along the way.

Customer Solutions Engineer Jobs in San Francisco: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a customer solutions engineer job in San Francisco?
The strongest path into a customer solutions engineer role in San Francisco is building demonstrated technical depth in cloud platforms, APIs, or data integrations alongside clear customer-facing experience. Enterprise SaaS and infrastructure companies in SoMa and Mission Bay hire the most, and candidates who can speak to both technical architecture and business outcomes consistently stand out. Familiarity with the developer-tools or security ecosystem gives you a real edge in this market.
Which companies hire customer solutions engineers in San Francisco?
Employers hiring customer solutions engineers in San Francisco right now include Google, Amazon Web Services, and Fastly, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. San Francisco's hiring base skews heavily toward enterprise software, cloud, and fintech companies, many of which run large commercial and mid-market sales motions that require dedicated solutions engineering support.
Are there remote customer solutions engineer jobs in San Francisco?
Yes, though availability depends on the role since customer solutions engineering often involves live product demonstrations, on-site discovery calls, and hands-on technical workshops that favor in-person presence. About 30% of customer solutions engineer openings tied to San Francisco are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with most flexibility found in the pre-sales research and proposal-development phases rather than active deal cycles.
How can I get a customer solutions engineer job in San Francisco with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Francisco is moving laterally from a technical support or implementation role at a SaaS company, since those positions build the product knowledge and customer communication skills that pre-sales teams hire for. Smaller Series B and Series C companies in SoMa and the Financial District frequently promote internally from support to solutions engineering. Completing vendor certifications from Salesforce, AWS, or Google Cloud strengthens your candidacy considerably in this market.
