Data Analyst Lead Jobs in Mississippi: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data analyst lead in Mississippi?
Most data analyst lead roles in Mississippi require a bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, computer science, or business analytics, followed by several years of hands-on analytical work before moving into a lead capacity. Mississippi does not issue a state license for this role. Employers in Jackson and the broader metro area typically expect candidates to demonstrate team leadership through prior project ownership, mentorship of junior analysts, and proficiency with enterprise BI tools before promoting or hiring at the lead level.
How much do data analyst leads make in Mississippi?
Data analyst leads in Mississippi earn a median of about $69,490 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $43,940 for the lowest 10% to over $125,990 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire data analyst leads in Mississippi?
Employers hiring data analyst leads in Mississippi right now include Amazon, Turner & Townsend Pty Limited, and University of Mississippi Medical Center, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Mississippi's largest hiring activity for this role is concentrated among healthcare systems, state agencies, and regional financial institutions that maintain dedicated analytics teams.
Which Mississippi cities have the most data analyst lead jobs?
Jackson, Canton, and Mississippi account for the most data analyst lead openings in Mississippi. Jackson dominates because it is home to the state government, UMMC, and the headquarters of major regional employers, while Ridgeland and Hattiesburg have grown as suburban business centers attracting insurance, financial services, and healthcare organizations that run their own analytics operations.
Are there remote data analyst lead jobs in Mississippi?
Yes, and more than most fields, since data analyst lead work is desk-based and output-oriented rather than requiring a physical presence. About 36% of data analyst lead openings tied to Mississippi are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the nature of the work. Strategic and governance-heavy responsibilities tend to attract the most fully remote postings, while roles with direct team management often require at least some on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a data analyst lead in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is to build foundational analytics experience as a data analyst or business intelligence analyst at a Mississippi employer, then pursue a lead role once you have demonstrated project ownership. Large Mississippi employers such as UMMC, Entergy, and state agencies regularly hire entry-level analysts who can grow into lead positions. Earning a recognized certification in a BI platform or completing a graduate certificate in data analytics from a Mississippi university such as Mississippi State or Ole Miss strengthens a candidacy significantly.
