Data Analyst Lead Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data analyst lead in New York?
Becoming a data analyst lead in New York requires a bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, computer science, or economics, though many roles in finance and healthcare prefer a master's degree. There is no state-issued license for this role in New York, so the path is built through progressive analytics experience. New York employers typically promote candidates who have led projects, mentored junior analysts, and demonstrated proficiency in SQL and a major BI platform before moving into a formal lead title.
How much do data analyst leads make in New York?
Data analyst leads in New York earn a median of about $130,460 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $73,330 for the lowest 10% to over $214,080 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire data analyst leads in New York?
Employers hiring data analyst leads in New York right now include Citi, BlackRock, and Braze, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of financial institutions, large hospital systems, and global media companies means demand for analytics leadership is spread across several distinct industries rather than dominated by a single sector.
Which New York cities have the most data analyst lead jobs?
New York, Getzville, and Brooklyn have the most data analyst lead openings in New York. New York City drives the bulk of demand because of its density of financial services firms, health systems, and technology companies, while Albany attracts openings tied to state government agencies and insurance carriers, and Buffalo has seen growing demand from healthcare and manufacturing analytics functions.
Are there remote data analyst lead jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 37% of data analyst lead openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how central this work is to desk-based, cloud-connected environments. The portions of the role most commonly offered remotely include reporting, dashboard development, and cross-functional analysis, while roles requiring close collaboration with trading desks or on-site clinical teams are more likely to require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a data analyst lead in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a junior data analyst role at a large New York employer and building toward a lead title over several years. Financial institutions like JPMorgan Chase and Citigroup run structured analyst development programs that place recent graduates in analytics rotations. Lateral entry from roles like business analyst, reporting analyst, or analytics engineer is also common. Building a portfolio of end-to-end project work and earning a certification in a platform like Tableau or dbt strengthens a candidate's profile significantly before applying for lead-level roles.
Where can I find and apply to data analyst lead jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to data analyst lead jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
