Data Analyst Lead Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data analyst lead in Massachusetts?
Most data analyst lead roles in Massachusetts are reached by building several years of hands-on analytics experience, then moving into cross-functional ownership or a formal lead title. Massachusetts has no state-issued license specific to this role, so employers focus on technical depth and demonstrated leadership. A bachelor's in data science, statistics, or computer science is the common baseline, and earning credentials such as Google's Professional Data Analytics certificate or a Certified Analytics Professional designation strengthens candidacy significantly.
How much do data analyst leads make in Massachusetts?
Data analyst leads in Massachusetts earn a median of about $131,750 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $81,030 for the lowest 10% to over $206,220 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire data analyst leads in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring data analyst leads in Massachusetts right now include Collegium Pharmaceutical, Klaviyo, and Xometry, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's concentration of biotech, health systems, and financial institutions means demand is particularly deep in those sectors, with large anchor employers regularly posting multiple senior analytics openings at once.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most data analyst lead jobs?
Boston, Waltham, and Somerville hold the most data analyst lead openings in Massachusetts. Boston and Cambridge dominate because of the dense cluster of financial services firms, academic medical centers, and biotech companies headquartered there, while Worcester draws hiring from UMass Memorial Health and growing health-tech employers that have expanded outside the Route 128 corridor.
Are there remote data analyst lead jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 48% of data analyst lead openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the role's core work translates to distributed environments. Strategic reporting, dashboard development, and stakeholder presentations are the functions most commonly performed fully remotely, while roles involving sensitive healthcare or financial data often require at least partial on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a data analyst lead in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing an analyst or associate analyst role at a large Massachusetts employer and building toward a lead title from within. Mass General Brigham, Fidelity Investments, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts all run structured associate and rotational analytics programs aimed at new graduates. Moving laterally from roles such as business intelligence developer, data engineer, or reporting analyst is also common. Building a portfolio of end-to-end projects and earning a recognized certification gives early-career candidates a concrete edge in competitive interview rounds.
Where can I find and apply to data analyst lead jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to data analyst lead jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and target industry, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
