Data Architect Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data architect in Washington?
Most data architects in Washington enter through a computer science, information systems, or engineering degree followed by several years in data engineering or database administration roles. Washington does not require a state-issued license for this role. Employers here commonly look for cloud certifications such as Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate or AWS Certified Data Analytics, which align closely with the dominant technology stacks used by Washington's large tech employers. A strong portfolio of architecture designs accelerates hiring significantly.
Which companies hire data architects in Washington?
Employers hiring data architects in Washington right now include Amazon Web Services, EY, and UST, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Washington's concentration of cloud-native technology companies and large federal contractors means demand here is particularly consistent for architects with enterprise-scale and public-sector data experience.
Which Washington cities have the most data architect jobs?
Seattle, Bellevue, and Redmond have the most data architect openings in Washington. Seattle and Bellevue drive the majority of listings due to the dense cluster of major technology headquarters and cloud-focused enterprises in the greater Puget Sound region, while Redmond anchors a significant share of demand through Microsoft's sprawling campus operations.
Are there remote data architect jobs in Washington?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 75% of data architect openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based, highly portable nature of architecture and design work. The portions of the role most commonly offered remotely are solution design, documentation, and stakeholder consulting, while on-site presence is more often required during initial platform build-outs or major migration projects.
How can I get hired as a data architect in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving into a data architect role from a data engineer or database developer position, since those roles provide the hands-on platform and modeling experience Washington employers screen for. Large Washington technology companies and state-agency IT departments regularly hire entry-level data engineers and business intelligence developers who can grow toward architecture work. Earning a cloud data certification such as Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate strengthens applications considerably, and contributing to open-source data tooling projects builds a visible portfolio that compensates for limited professional history.
Where can I find and apply to data architect jobs in Washington?
You can find and apply to data architect jobs in Washington on Migrate Mate, which lists current Washington openings across industries and experience levels. Search the listings, find roles that fit your background and preferences, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
