Data Architect Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data architect in Florida?
There is no state-issued license required to work as a data architect in Florida. Most Florida employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering, plus several years of hands-on database and systems experience. Industry certifications such as AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Professional Data Engineer, or the DAMA Certified Data Management Professional carry real weight with Florida hiring managers and can substitute for some experience at smaller organizations.
Which companies hire data architects in Florida?
Employers hiring data architects in Florida right now include Citi, MANTECH, and Kforce, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's concentration of large financial institutions, hospital networks, and tourism and hospitality conglomerates makes it one of the more consistent states for enterprise-level data architecture roles year-round.
Which Florida cities have the most data architect jobs?
Tampa, Florida, and Miami account for the largest share of data architect openings in Florida. Miami leads because of its dense cluster of financial services firms and Latin American regional headquarters, Tampa draws demand from insurance carriers and healthcare technology companies, and Orlando's concentration of hospitality conglomerates and defense contractors keeps a steady pipeline of data architecture roles open throughout the year.
Are there remote data architect jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most fields. Data architecture is largely a desk-based, systems-design discipline, so remote and hybrid arrangements are common. About 57% of data architect openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how widely distributed the employer base is. Strategic and design-heavy phases of the role, such as data modeling and governance planning, are the most likely to stay fully remote even at companies that require on-site presence for other IT functions.
How can I get hired as a data architect in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a data analyst, database administrator, or business intelligence developer role into an architect track. Large Florida employers such as AdventHealth, Fiserv, and the major Florida university systems regularly hire associate-level data or BI roles that serve as architect pipelines. Building a portfolio of data models and pipeline designs on public cloud platforms and earning one cloud data certification before applying gives candidates a concrete edge over others with a similar background.
Where can I find and apply to data architect jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to data architect jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings from employers actively hiring. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and preferred location or work arrangement, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
