Data Collection Specialist Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data collection specialist in Texas?
Most data collection specialist positions in Texas require at minimum an associate degree, though employers in healthcare research, energy, and state government agencies often prefer a bachelor's degree in statistics, public health, social science, or a related field. Texas does not issue a state license specifically for this role, but clinical data collection positions may require Good Clinical Practice certification, and public health research roles often look for training aligned with Texas Department of State Health Services standards.
Which companies hire data collection specialists in Texas?
Texas data collection specialist roles are posted by Tesla, Emergence Technologies, and Turner & Townsend Pty Limited and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. Texas's concentration of healthcare systems, energy companies, and large public universities creates steady, recurring demand for specialists who can manage both field and digital data collection.
Which Texas cities have the most data collection specialist jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Houston have the most data collection specialist openings in Texas right now. Houston's dominance reflects the concentration of major medical centers and energy research operations there, while Dallas draws hiring from corporate headquarters and logistics firms, and Austin's growth in technology and state government agencies has made it an increasingly active market for research and analytical data roles.
How can I get hired as a data collection specialist in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for research assistant or data entry associate roles at Texas's large public university systems, such as UT Austin, Texas A&M, or UT Health, which regularly hire entry-level staff for funded research projects and clinical studies. State agencies like the Texas Department of State Health Services and large healthcare networks also hire entry-level field interviewers and survey coordinators. Building proficiency in REDCap or Qualtrics and earning a Good Clinical Practice certification gives candidates a clear edge over others with no field experience.
