Mid Level Data Governance Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level data governance manager job?
Highlight ownership, not just participation. Hiring managers at this level want to see candidates who led a governance initiative, defined a data policy, or resolved a compliance gap rather than supported someone else doing it. Lead your resume with outcomes: metadata frameworks implemented, data quality scores improved, or cross-team alignment you drove. Tailor your application to show you can operate with limited direction from day one.
Which companies hire mid level data governance managers?
Companies hiring mid level data governance managers right now include TikTok, JPMorganChase, and New York Life, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring tends to come from organizations scaling their data programs, including financial services firms, healthcare systems, and technology companies building out formal governance functions.
Are there remote mid level data governance manager jobs?
Yes, with a meaningful share of openings offering location flexibility. About 37% of mid level data governance manager openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the largely documentation-driven and cross-functional communication nature of the work. Fully on-site roles do exist, typically at regulated industries like banking or government contractors where data sensitivity policies require in-person oversight.
How do I move up to a mid level data governance manager role?
The path from entry level to mid level is built on progressively owning more of the governance lifecycle. Early on, focus on mastering data cataloging, metadata standards, and compliance frameworks. Then push toward leading a policy rollout or owning a data domain. Demonstrating that you can independently assess risk, communicate findings to non-technical stakeholders, and deliver measurable data quality improvements is what separates mid level candidates from junior ones.
Which industries hire the most mid level data governance managers?
Mid Level data governance manager roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Banking & Financial Services, and Insurance, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring because they face significant regulatory pressure around data privacy, lineage, and accuracy, making structured governance functions essential at organizations of nearly every size.
