Data Management Specialist Jobs in Nebraska: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data management specialist in Nebraska?
Most data management specialist roles in Nebraska require a bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or a related field, though some employers in Omaha and Lincoln accept equivalent experience. Nebraska does not issue a state license for this role. Employers across healthcare, finance, and logistics typically look for demonstrated database skills, familiarity with data governance frameworks, and a recognized certification such as the Certified Data Management Professional credential to validate technical competence.
How much do data management specialists make in Nebraska?
Data management specialists in Nebraska earn a median of about $100,020 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $63,610 for the lowest 10% to over $141,860 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire data management specialists in Nebraska?
Companies currently hiring data management specialists in Nebraska include Physicians Mutual, KPMG, and CVS Health, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Nebraska's concentration of large insurance carriers, railroad operations, and regional health systems creates steady, recurring demand for data management professionals across the state.
Which Nebraska cities have the most data management specialist jobs?
Omaha, Lincoln, and Elkhorn account for the largest share of data management specialist openings in Nebraska. Omaha leads because it is home to major financial services firms, healthcare networks, and Union Pacific's corporate headquarters, all of which run large data operations, while Lincoln's state government agencies and university system drive consistent demand in the capital.
Are there remote data management specialist jobs in Nebraska?
Yes, and more than most fields, since data management work is largely computer-based and does not require a physical presence at a worksite. About 30% of data management specialist openings tied to Nebraska are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of the role. Data governance, metadata management, and database administration tasks are the most frequently offered as fully remote positions.
How can I get hired as a data management specialist in Nebraska with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a data analyst or database administrator associate role at one of Nebraska's large employers, such as Mutual of Omaha, Nebraska Medicine, or a state agency in Lincoln. Many of these organizations hire recent graduates from the University of Nebraska's information systems programs into junior data roles. Building a portfolio of SQL projects, completing a foundational data certification, and targeting data coordinator or data entry analyst titles gives candidates without direct experience a strong footing.
Where can I find and apply to data management specialist jobs in Nebraska?
You can find and apply to data management specialist jobs in Nebraska on Migrate Mate, which lists current Nebraska openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that fit your background, then apply directly to the ones that match your experience and location preference.
