Data Science Analyst Jobs in Boston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a data science analyst job in Boston?
Focus your search on Boston's three strongest hiring clusters: life sciences and biotech firms concentrated in the Longwood Medical Area, financial services companies headquartered downtown, and tech firms in the Seaport and adjacent Kendall Square. Candidates who can show experience with Python, SQL, or R alongside domain knowledge in one of those sectors move faster through local hiring pipelines. Applying directly through company career pages and targeting mid-size biotech and fintech firms often yields quicker results than chasing large enterprise roles.
Which companies hire data science analysts in Boston?
Companies currently hiring data science analysts in Boston include Liberty Mutual Insurance, Fidelity Investments, and Deloitte, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Boston's employer mix is unusually strong in healthcare analytics and life sciences, alongside a dense cluster of asset managers and fintech startups that compete for the same analytical talent.
Are there remote data science analyst jobs in Boston?
Yes, data science analyst work is well-suited to remote and hybrid arrangements because the role centers on modeling, analysis, and reporting rather than on-site operations. About 50% of data science analyst openings tied to Boston are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting broad adoption across the sector. Analytical and modeling tasks travel well remotely, while roles tied to embedded clinical or trading-floor teams in Boston tend to require more in-person presence.
How can I get a data science analyst job in Boston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Boston is targeting analyst associate or junior data analyst roles at the city's mid-size biotech and healthcare technology firms, which hire more entry-level candidates than large financial institutions do. Boston-area universities and teaching hospitals also hire research data coordinators and analytics associates that build directly transferable skills. A portfolio of projects using publicly available health or financial datasets, combined with familiarity with Python or R, gives Boston-area candidates a concrete edge over applicants with credentials alone.
Which industries hire the most data science analysts in Boston?
Most data science analyst openings in Boston sit in Investment & Asset Management, Insurance, and Consulting & Professional Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Boston's concentration of world-class research hospitals, global asset managers, and venture-backed tech companies creates unusually deep and sustained demand for analytical talent across all three sectors.
