Job Opportunity
BHSI is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect to join our Enterprise Architecture team. This role is critical to driving the architecture transformation of our homegrown applications in the Enterprise Solutions Portfolio (60 applications). Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Architecture, you will partner closely with the Enterprise Solutions portfolio leaders and other key business stakeholders to standardize and modernize the solutions across the entire portfolio.
We are embarking on an architecture journey to migrate away from a standalone applications-based ecosystem to a cohesive capability driven architecture with greater reuse. This role requires a technologist and a strategic thinker – not a manager of architects. The role will define future-state architecture and ensure alignment between technology investments and business priorities to position the portfolio for long-term success.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and Architect a scalable, resilient technology ecosystem that powers the next stage of growth.
- Develop a transformation roadmap and strategy, focusing on integration, automation, process reengineering, and reuse.
- Oversee the portfolio of Enterprise Solutions applications, ensuring strategic alignment, lifecycle management, and optimization to support global business needs.
- Define and champion the API strategy and platform architecture to enable capability reuse across the portfolio.
- Establish architecture governance practices (reference architectures, decision records, and fitness functions) to ensure consistency at scale.
- Lead build vs. buy evaluations and recommendations.
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership, translating complex technical information into actionable insights.
- Gain deep knowledge of BHSI’s technology landscape, including international requirements, multi-currency, and regulatory complexities.
- Lead and motivate cross-functional, multi-disciplinary, globally distributed teams, including vendor partners, with a focus on achieving outcomes.
- Drive change management and adoption strategies to ensure successful implementation of new technologies.
- Collaborate with all key stakeholders to align technology initiatives with BHSI’s long-term goals, assume positive intent, and exhibit a growth mindset.
- Identify and remediate technical debt and vulnerabilities to reduce risk and maintain system reliability.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators for finance technology initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and measurable impact.
- Drive application portfolio rationalization and lifecycle planning to maximize value and reduce complexity.
- Maintain and optimize existing finance applications, tools, and platforms to ensure security, reliability, and availability.
- Evaluate and integrate AI/ML capabilities to accelerate modernization, automate workflows, and enhance decision-making.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- 15+ years of progressive experience in engineering and architecture, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing architecture direction for a large application portfolio.
- Deep technical knowledge across application, data, security, integration, and infrastructure domains.
- Deep expertise in the Microsoft stack and Azure.
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale technology transformations.
- Deep expertise with modern architecture patterns, including event-driven, API-first, cloud-native, and composable architectures.
- Understanding of AI/GenAI integration patterns and their application to enterprise modernization.
- Experience with estimation, budgeting, and cost management for technology initiatives.
- High ownership mindset, demonstrating accountability, delivery focus, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Exceptional collaborator with a bias for action and a role up the sleeve mindset.
- Strong data-driven mindset, leveraging analytics for decision-making, performance measurement, and continuous improvement.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to construct and articulate a long-term vision for enterprise services and application portfolio management.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving capability, with a focus on risk mitigation and operational excellence.
- Executive presence and ability to influence at all organizational levels, including senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated success in change management and stakeholder adoption for large-scale technology initiatives.
- Prior experience in insurance or financial services industry is a plus.
