Data Science Manager Jobs in Kansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data science manager in Kansas?
Data science manager roles in Kansas do not require a state-issued license or registration, so the path runs through education and demonstrated experience. Most Kansas employers expect a bachelor's degree in a quantitative field as a floor, with a master's degree preferred for leadership roles. From there, candidates build several years of applied data science work before moving into team lead or manager positions. Kansas employers in financial services and healthcare analytics often promote from within, so starting as a senior analyst or lead data scientist at a Kansas organization is a proven route.
Which companies hire data science managers in Kansas?
Companies currently hiring data science managers in Kansas include SPX Technologies, Topeka Public Schools, and Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Kansas's concentration of financial services firms in Overland Park and technology-forward manufacturers in Wichita means demand is distributed across multiple industries rather than limited to a single sector.
Which Kansas cities have the most data science manager jobs?
Overland Park, Topeka, and Kansas City lead Kansas in data science manager openings. Overland Park draws the most postings because of its dense cluster of financial services headquarters and technology companies, while Wichita's manufacturing, aerospace, and agribusiness employers have expanded their data leadership teams in recent years, and Kansas City's health systems and logistics firms round out the demand.
Are there remote data science manager jobs in Kansas?
Yes, and more than most fields. Data science management is largely desk-based and tool-driven, which makes it well suited to distributed work arrangements. About 42% of data science manager openings tied to Kansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the broader flexibility of analytical leadership roles. Strategic oversight, model review, and stakeholder communication are the functions most commonly performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a data science manager in Kansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a team lead role from a senior data scientist position at a Kansas employer before pursuing a formal manager title. Large Kansas organizations like Oracle Health and Garmin have internal development programs that advance high-performing individual contributors into leadership. Building a portfolio of end-to-end projects, mentoring junior analysts informally, and completing a graduate certificate in data science or an MBA with an analytics concentration all give candidates a concrete edge when applying for first-time manager openings in the state.
Where can I find and apply to data science manager jobs in Kansas?
You can find and apply to data science manager jobs in Kansas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Kansas openings across industries and experience levels. Search the listings to find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the ones that match.
