Entry Level Database Developer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level database developer job?
Build a portfolio of projects that demonstrates practical SQL skills, schema design, and data modeling. Employers at this level look for familiarity with at least one database platform such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server, and an understanding of basic query optimization. Internship experience, academic projects, or open-source contributions all strengthen an application when professional history is limited.
Which companies hire entry level database developers?
Companies hiring entry level database developers right now include Cvent, Google, and Amazon Web Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level covers mid-size technology firms, financial services companies, healthcare organizations, and large enterprises that maintain active database teams and regularly bring on junior talent.
Are there remote entry level database developer jobs?
Yes, though remote availability varies by employer and role type. About 13% of entry level database developer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, so candidates willing to work on-site will find a broader set of opportunities while still having genuine flexible options worth targeting.
Are these new grad database developer jobs?
Yes. These listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior database developer roles alongside other entry level openings. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internship or academic project work in place of full-time history, or explicitly invites candidates who can demonstrate skills through a portfolio rather than a long employment record.
Which industries hire the most entry level database developers?
Entry Level database developer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Consulting & Professional Services, and Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors generate sustained junior hiring because they manage large, growing datasets and need database support staff who can learn established workflows while contributing to day-to-day data operations.
