- Capture learnings from trials and early production runs and route them to the appropriate manager for incorporation into standards or SPECS.
- Assist with specification authoring and formatting, ensuring Critical to Quality characteristics (CTQs), materials, dimensions, and performance requirements are clearly captured and test methods and validation references are correctly linked.
- Help maintain spec libraries, templates, and families to support reuse and standardization.

Development Engineer Jobs in Los Angeles: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a development engineer job in Los Angeles?
Target the sectors that drive Los Angeles hiring: aerospace and defense contractors, consumer electronics firms, and clean energy companies. The South Bay, El Segundo, and the aerospace corridor along Interstate 105 concentrate the most openings. Candidates who can show hands-on prototyping experience, familiarity with regulatory testing standards, and cross-functional work alongside manufacturing teams tend to move faster through hiring pipelines in this market.
Which companies hire development engineers in Los Angeles?
Los Angeles development engineer roles are posted by K2 Space, PlayStation, and Motorola Solutions and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The local employer mix runs from global aerospace and defense primes to mid-size consumer hardware companies and a growing number of electric vehicle and clean energy startups headquartered in the region.
Are there remote development engineer jobs in Los Angeles?
Yes, though remote availability is limited for hands-on roles involving physical prototyping, lab testing, or manufacturing support. About 56% of development engineer openings tied to Los Angeles are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with most flexibility found in roles focused on systems documentation, software integration, or design analysis rather than physical product development.
How can I get a development engineer job in Los Angeles with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Los Angeles is targeting associate or junior development engineer roles at mid-size aerospace suppliers and consumer electronics manufacturers in the South Bay and Torrance corridors, where teams are large enough to mentor early-career hires. Internships through California State University Dominguez Hills or Cal Poly Pomona feed directly into local hiring pipelines, and contract-to-hire roles at defense subcontractors are a common way to build hands-on credentials quickly.
Which industries hire the most development engineers in Los Angeles?
Most development engineer openings in Los Angeles sit in Manufacturing, Technology & Software, and Food & Beverage, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Los Angeles's legacy as a hub for aerospace manufacturing, combined with its expanding clean energy and consumer hardware sectors, keeps demand for development engineers consistently strong across those fields.
