Development Engineer Jobs in Dallas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a development engineer job in Dallas?
Target the sectors that drive Dallas hiring: energy and oil and gas firms in Uptown and Irving, defense and aerospace contractors in the DFW metroplex, semiconductor companies along the Telecom Corridor in Richardson, and advanced manufacturing operations in Garland and Plano. Candidates with hands-on prototyping experience, CAD proficiency, or domain expertise in one of those industries stand out most in this market.
Which companies hire development engineers in Dallas?
Companies currently hiring development engineers in Dallas include Shield AI, Salient Global Technologies, and Wex, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Dallas attracts a mix of large energy majors, defense primes, and mid-size industrial technology firms, many headquartered or with major engineering centers in the wider DFW metro.
Are there remote development engineer jobs in Dallas?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role. Development engineering is often hands-on and lab- or site-dependent, so fully remote positions are less common than in purely analytical fields. About 36% of development engineer openings tied to Dallas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at software-integrated product companies in Plano and Richardson.
How can I get a development engineer job in Dallas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through co-op or internship programs at Dallas-area energy companies and defense contractors, many of which convert high-performing interns into full-time roles. Look for titles like junior development engineer, associate test engineer, or product development technician at mid-size manufacturers in Garland, Carrollton, and Grand Prairie. A portfolio of personal or academic projects demonstrating hands-on prototyping strengthens any application here.
Which industries hire the most development engineers in Dallas?
The sectors hiring the most development engineers in Dallas are Technology & Software, Banking & Financial Services, and Aerospace & Defense, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Dallas's role as a hub for energy infrastructure, defense contracting, and semiconductor design creates sustained demand across those industries well beyond typical technology hubs.
