About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, forward-thinking Senior DevOps Engineer to join our newly formed DevOps team within our Market Data Engineering organization. In this role, you will be a critical resource working with Engineering and Product teams to re-design, build, automate, and scale our developer enablement ecosystem.
You will partner with multiple agile development teams building complex, high performance computing solutions, championing a modern, security-focused DevOps culture. Beyond traditional CI/CD, you will explore and implement AI-enabled automation using LLMs like Claude or Gemini to optimize pipelines, build developer self-service tooling, and accelerate software delivery.
Key Responsibilities
CI/CD & Pipeline Engineering: Design, build, optimize, and maintain robust, high-performing CI/CD pipelines across multiple agile development teams using Git, GitLab CI, and Jenkins
AI-Driven Automation: Research, design, and implement automated workflows, pipeline triaging, and developer tooling using AI models (such as Claude and Gemini) integrated via Model Context Protocol (MCP)
Software Supply Chain Security: Design and manage software supply chain workflows using JFrog Artifactory, ensuring secure dependency management, artifact caching, and license compliance
DevSecOps & Secure SDLC: Integrate automated security scanning (SAST/DAST, container scanning, secret detection) directly into delivery pipelines, driving a "shift-left" security culture
Automation & Tooling: Develop clean, maintainable, and reliable automation scripts and custom integrations using Python
Infrastructure & Platform Management: Manage and optimize Linux operating environments across both traditional virtual machines (VMs) and modern containerized platforms using Docker
Cloud Infrastructure: Provision, monitor, and scale cloud infrastructure on AWS, utilizing core services such as EC2, S3, VPCs, and IAM
Agile Collaboration: Serve as a DevOps champion within agile sprint teams, participating in ceremonies, advising on deployment strategies, and removing operational bottlenecks
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience in DevOps or Platform Engineering, ideally supporting multiple agile software development teams
Strong experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Git, GitLab CI/CD, and Jenkins, including pipeline-as-code and shared libraries
Strong proficiency in Python for software development, systems automation, internal tooling, or integration development
Hands-on experience administering Linux environments and working with virtual machines and Docker-based containerized s
Practical experience managing binary repositories, dependencies, and artifact lifecycles using JFrog Artifactory or a comparable platform
Proven experience deploying and managing workloads in AWS, including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, security groups, and related networking concepts
Practical understanding of secure software development lifecycle principles, vulnerability management, container security, and secrets management
Demonstrated success collaborating with agile software development teams using Scrum, Kanban, or similar methodologies
Experience identifying operational inefficiencies and translating them into scalable automation, tooling, or platform improvements
Preferred Skills & Experience
Experience using large language models for code generation, log analysis, pipeline triage, developer support, or workflow automation
Experience building, integrating, or consuming Model Context Protocol services, AI agents, or similar AI-enabled development tools
Experience supporting high-performance, low-latency, financial technology, or other technically complex software environments
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools and container orchestration platforms
Relevant AWS, DevOps, security, or cloud certification
What We Offer
Foundational Impact: The opportunity to help shape Exegy’s DevOps strategy, architecture, automation practices, and supporting toolset
Modern Technology: Work at the intersection of DevOps, software security, developer enablement, and AI-enabled automation
Professional Growth: Opportunities to expand your expertise through hands-on technical challenges, collaboration, and continued learning
Collaborative Culture: A supportive environment where DevOps partners directly with Engineering, Product, Security, and other technical teams to improve how software is built and delivered

DevOps Engineer Jobs in Missouri: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a devops engineer in Missouri?
Missouri does not require a state-issued license to work as a devops engineer, so the path runs through education and industry credentials. Most Missouri employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field, though candidates with an associate degree plus demonstrated experience are hired too. Certifications from AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or the Linux Foundation carry real weight in Missouri interviews and help candidates without a traditional four-year background compete effectively.
Which companies hire devops engineers in Missouri?
Employers hiring devops engineers in Missouri right now include Esri, Exegy, and Nabis, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Missouri's mix of large financial services firms, major healthcare IT companies, and federal defense contractors means devops roles appear across a wider range of industries than in most Midwest states.
Which Missouri cities have the most devops engineer jobs?
St. Louis, Columbia, and Missouri have the most devops engineer openings in Missouri. Kansas City drives volume through its large concentration of financial technology companies, healthcare systems, and logistics firms, while St. Louis adds demand from defense contractors, insurance companies, and enterprise software employers, and Columbia's University of Missouri health system and growing startup community account for the smaller but steady openings there.
Are there remote devops engineer jobs in Missouri?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 44% of devops engineer openings tied to Missouri are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, which reflects how naturally the role lends itself to distributed work. Pipeline automation, cloud infrastructure management, and monitoring tasks are the functions most likely to be fully remote, while roles involving on-premises data centers or regulated government systems tend to require at least a partial on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a devops engineer in Missouri with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a systems administrator, IT operations, or junior cloud support role first and building devops skills from there. Large Missouri employers like Cerner and Mastercard occasionally post associate or rotational technology programs designed for recent graduates. Building a portfolio of public projects on GitHub that demonstrate CI/CD pipelines, Terraform configurations, or Docker deployments gives hiring managers something concrete to evaluate, and an AWS Cloud Practitioner or CompTIA Linux+ certification signals foundational readiness to Missouri recruiters screening entry-level applicants.
Where can I find and apply to devops engineer jobs in Missouri?
You can find and apply to devops engineer jobs in Missouri on Migrate Mate, which lists current Missouri openings across Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbia, and surrounding areas. Find roles that match your experience and specialties and apply directly to the ones that fit.
