DevOps Engineer Jobs in Columbus: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a devops engineer job in Columbus?
Focus your search on Columbus's financial services and insurance sector, which runs along the Downtown core and Easton corridor, and on the growing health-tech employers clustered near the Ohio State University medical campus. Candidates who demonstrate cloud infrastructure experience on AWS or Azure and hold a Kubernetes or Terraform certification stand out in this market. Networking through Columbus tech meetups and local developer groups also opens doors that job boards alone don't.
Which companies hire devops engineers in Columbus?
Columbus devops engineer roles are posted by JPMorganChase, Express, and Wells Fargo and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Columbus draws a mix of large financial institutions, regional health systems, and mid-size SaaS companies, all of which maintain in-house platform and infrastructure engineering teams.
Are there remote devops engineer jobs in Columbus?
Yes, devops engineering is one of the more remote-friendly disciplines in tech, since most of the work involves cloud platforms and CI/CD tooling that don't require physical presence. About 33% of devops engineer openings tied to Columbus are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with on-site requirements most common at financial institutions and healthcare systems that operate regulated infrastructure.
How can I get a devops engineer job in Columbus with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Columbus is a junior site reliability engineer or cloud operations associate role at one of the city's mid-size insurance or fintech companies, which tend to hire for potential and grow engineers internally. Building hands-on projects using AWS free tier, earning an entry-level cloud certification, and contributing to open-source tooling are all concrete steps that Columbus hiring managers look for. Code boot camps with local employer partnerships, including programs connected to the Columbus tech nonprofit ecosystem, also place graduates into junior DevOps pipelines.
Which industries hire the most devops engineers in Columbus?
Most devops engineer openings in Columbus sit in Retail, Fintech, and Banking & Financial Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Columbus's identity as a major financial services and insurance hub, combined with a large regional healthcare presence anchored by institutions near the university district, creates consistent platform engineering demand across both regulated and commercial environments.
