Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Communications Director
Translate your Australian credentials for U.S. employers
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 purposes. Get a credential evaluation from a DOL-recognized service before interviews so employers aren't uncertain about sponsorship eligibility.
Target employers with existing LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for Communications Director and Communications Manager LCA filings. Employers who have certified LCAs before understand the process and are far less likely to withdraw an offer over paperwork concerns.
Clarify the specialty occupation case for your role
Broader director titles sometimes face scrutiny over whether they qualify as a specialty occupation. Prepare a brief written summary showing how your role requires specialized communications knowledge, not just general management, before your employer files the LCA.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service after you receive an offer
Once you have a written offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork. This removes the risk of your employer stalling or making errors on government forms that delay your start date.
Ask about the LCA timeline before signing an offer
DOL certifies most LCAs within seven business days, but your employer still needs to post the notice of filing. Build at least three weeks between your signed offer and your intended start date so the LCA certification doesn't create a scheduling conflict.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at the consulate
Consular officers assess whether you intend to return to Australia after your authorized stay. Senior communications roles can attract closer scrutiny. Have clear answers about your Australian ties, your role's defined scope, and the two-year term of your visa.

Find Communications Director JobsCommunications Director E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Communications Director jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for E-3 sponsorship roles in the U.S. You can filter by job title and see which employers have E-3 and LCA filing history, so you're targeting companies that already understand the sponsorship process rather than educating every recruiter from scratch.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Communications Director role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the role genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in communications, public relations, journalism, or a closely related field. Titles that fold in broad operational management without a clear communications-specific degree requirement can face pushback at the LCA stage. The stronger your job description ties the role to specialized communications expertise, the cleaner the filing.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Communications Director roles?
The E-3 is only available to Australian citizens, but it has a significant structural advantage: no lottery. H-1B petitions for Communications Director roles are subject to the annual cap and random selection, meaning a qualified candidate can be shut out entirely. The E-3 can be filed any time of year and renewed indefinitely in two-year increments, making career continuity far more predictable.
Can I switch employers while on an E-3 as a Communications Director?
You can change employers, but each new role requires a fresh LCA and a new E-3 visa stamp before you start. You can't port your existing E-3 to a new company the way some other visa categories allow. Build in enough lead time after accepting a new offer for the DOL certification and a consulate appointment, which can take several weeks depending on your location.
