Translate your credentials for U.S. employers
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 purposes. Get a credential evaluation to confirm yours aligns with instructional design, education, or organizational development requirements before applying.
Target employers with existing LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for companies that have filed LCAs for training or learning and development roles. A prior filing signals the employer understands the E-3 process and won't need hand-holding.
Frame the role as a specialty occupation clearly
Job descriptions for Technical Training Manager roles sometimes list a degree as 'preferred' rather than 'required.' Before accepting an offer, confirm the employer will write the position description to specify a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, which is essential for E-3 eligibility.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for LCA and paperwork
Once you have a signed offer, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from LCA certification with the DOL through to consulate appointment preparation, so you're not coordinating the paperwork yourself.
Address the no-dual-intent rule in your interview
The E-3 requires nonimmigrant intent at the consulate. If your long-term goal is permanent residence, don't raise it at the visa interview. Be prepared to explain your current U.S. employment plans and ties to Australia without volunteering future immigration intentions.
Start the LCA before your start date, not after
Your employer must file the LCA with the DOL and receive certification before you attend your consulate appointment. Build at least three to four weeks of LCA processing time into your onboarding timeline to avoid delaying your start date.

Find Technical Training Manager JobsTechnical Training Manager E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Technical Training Manager jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists Technical Training Manager roles at U.S. employers who are open to E-3 visa sponsorship for Australian professionals. Filtering by visa type saves you from applying to roles where sponsorship isn't on the table, which is the most common time sink in an international job search.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Technical Training Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the employer requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as instructional design, education, human resources development, or organizational psychology. Roles where any generalist degree satisfies the requirement regardless of field are harder to qualify. The job offer letter and internal job description need to specify the degree field precisely.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Technical Training Manager roles?
The E-3 is available exclusively to Australian citizens and has no annual lottery, so there's no randomized selection process. The H-1B is capped at 85,000 per year and requires a lottery registration each March. For an Australian professional, the E-3 is a more predictable path because eligibility depends on your qualifications and your offer, not a random draw.
Can I change employers after my E-3 is approved for a Training Manager role?
Yes, but you need a new LCA filed and certified by the DOL and a new visa stamp from a U.S. consulate before starting with the new employer. The E-3 is employer-specific, so your current visa doesn't transfer. If you're already in the U.S., plan for the consulate appointment timeline before resigning from your current role.
