Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Wireless Engineer
Align your credentials to U.S. specialty occupation standards
Your Australian three-year engineering degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year bachelor's for E-3 visa purposes. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before applying, so your employer can confirm specialty occupation eligibility without delays.
Target employers with active wireless infrastructure projects
Network operators expanding 5G infrastructure, defense contractors, and cloud infrastructure firms regularly sponsor E-3 visas for RF and wireless engineers. Search DOL's Foreign Labor Application Gateway disclosure data to identify employers who have filed LCAs for wireless engineering titles.
Search for E-3 wireless roles using Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings by E-3 sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to employers unfamiliar with the visa. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once you have an offer in hand.
Clarify your job title maps to an approved SOC code
Titles like Wireless Network Engineer, RF Systems Engineer, and Telecommunications Engineer each map to different DOL Standard Occupational Classification codes. Confirm with your employer that the LCA uses a SOC code consistent with your actual duties before the application is filed.
Ask about E-3 experience during early recruiter conversations
Many mid-size wireless firms have sponsored H-1B visas but haven't processed an E-3 before. Raising it early lets HR confirm the process with their counsel before an offer is extended, reducing the risk of sponsorship being withdrawn late in the negotiation.
Time your visa appointment around LCA certification
The DOL typically certifies an LCA within seven business days, and you can't schedule your consulate appointment in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth until certification is complete. Build at least two weeks between your offer acceptance and your target start date to account for this sequencing.
E-3 Visa Wireless Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Wireless Engineer jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for E-3-eligible roles in the U.S. It surfaces Wireless Engineer positions at employers with sponsorship history, so you can focus applications on companies already familiar with the E-3 process rather than educating every recruiter from scratch.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Wireless Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, telecommunications, or a directly related field. Roles that accept any technical degree, or that don't tie specific engineering duties to the degree requirement, can face scrutiny. Your employer's LCA should specify the SOC code and degree requirement clearly to support the specialty occupation finding.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Wireless Engineers?
The E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation that has never been fully used, so there's no lottery and no registration fee. H-1B selection is random and highly competitive, with acceptance rates well below 50% in recent years. For Australian wireless engineers, the E-3 means you can start the process after receiving an offer and have a predictable path to a consulate appointment, rather than waiting on lottery results.
Can I switch wireless engineering employers while on an E-3?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp before re-entering the U.S., or a change of status if you're already in the country. There's no portability provision like AC21 for H-1B holders, so coordinate the timing carefully to avoid a gap in authorized work status.
