Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in User Experience Design
Translate your portfolio for U.S. recruiters
U.S. hiring managers expect case studies framed around business impact and measurable outcomes. Restructure your portfolio to lead with the problem, your process, and quantifiable results before showcasing visuals.
Verify your degree supports the LCA
Your employer's Labor Condition Application must cite a specialty occupation tied to a specific field of study. A three-year Australian bachelor's in interaction design, human-computer interaction, or a cognate discipline generally satisfies DOL requirements.
Target employers with dedicated UX teams
Companies with in-house product design functions are far more likely to file an E-3 visa LCA than those treating UX as a contractor function. Search Migrate Mate to filter UX roles at employers with active E-3 visa sponsorship history.
Clarify sponsorship early in recruiter conversations
Ask specifically whether the employer can file an E-3 LCA, not just whether they sponsor visas. Many companies familiar with H-1B don't realize the E-3 requires no lottery and involves a simpler employer process.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your LCA
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end, including consulate preparation. This avoids the delays that come from employers filing independently for the first time.
Align your contract structure with E-3 requirements
The E-3 requires a bona fide employer-employee relationship, so freelance or contractor arrangements won't qualify. Confirm your offer letter specifies full-time or part-time direct employment before your employer begins the LCA filing with DOL.
E-3 Visa User Experience Design: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find User Experience Design jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces UX Design roles at employers with E-3 sponsorship history, so you're not applying blindly to companies that have never filed an LCA. Filter by location, seniority, and role type to find positions where the employer already understands the E-3 process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does UX Design qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3 visa?
Yes, provided the role genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as interaction design, human-computer interaction, graphic design, or psychology. Job titles like UX Designer, Product Designer, and UX Researcher routinely qualify. Roles where any bachelor's degree satisfies the requirement, regardless of field, are harder to support and may draw scrutiny from USCIS during consular processing.
How does the E-3 compare to H-1B for UX Design roles?
The E-3 has no annual cap and no lottery, which means you can apply any time of year and start as soon as your visa is approved. The H-1B is capped at 85,000 per year and requires selection in an April lottery, with an October 1 start date at the earliest. For Australian UX professionals, the E-3 is a direct path to employment without the uncertainty of a random draw.
Can I switch UX Design employers while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but each new employer must file a new LCA with DOL before you start work. There is no portability provision like H-1B's AC21 rule, so you cannot begin with a new employer while the LCA is pending. Plan for a DOL processing window, which can range from a few days to several weeks depending on whether the application requires analyst review.
