Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Chief Operating Officer
Frame your degree for specialty occupation
COO roles must meet the E-3 specialty occupation standard, so document how your Australian bachelor's degree directly relates to operations leadership. A three-year Australian degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 purposes.
Target employers with existing E-3 infrastructure
Companies that have sponsored E-3 visas before already understand the LCA filing process and won't need convincing. Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data to identify organisations that have filed Labor Condition Applications for senior operations roles.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for end-to-end filing
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork. The LCA must be certified by DOL before your consulate appointment, so getting the filing right the first time avoids delays.
Address dual intent directly with hiring managers
COO candidates often attract questions about long-term intent during interviews. The E-3 is a nonimmigrant visa, so you'll need to demonstrate ties to Australia while pursuing the role, even if you intend to renew indefinitely.
Prepare your LCA prevailing wage documentation early
Your employer's LCA must certify they'll pay you at or above the DOL prevailing wage for the COO role in that metro area. Request a prevailing wage determination from DOL before negotiating your offer so the salary you agree on meets the threshold.
Find COO roles with E-3 sponsorship on Migrate Mate
Filtering for E-3-sponsoring employers in a COO search is time-consuming without the right tool. Migrate Mate surfaces executive operations roles specifically matched to E-3 sponsorship eligibility, saving you hours of manual research.

Find Chief Operating Officer JobsChief Operating Officer E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Chief Operating Officer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the recommended starting point for Australian professionals searching for COO roles with E-3 sponsorship. It filters positions by employers who have demonstrated sponsorship history for senior operations roles, so you're not cold-applying to companies that haven't navigated E-3 filings before.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Chief Operating Officer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business administration, management, or a related discipline. Generic executive roles where any degree suffices can face scrutiny. Your employer's job description should explicitly state the degree requirement, and your own credentials should align with that field.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for a COO role?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no cap, so an approved COO offer can move directly to a consulate appointment without waiting for a selection round. The H-1B requires registration in the annual lottery with no guarantee of selection. For Australian nationals, the E-3 is a far more predictable path to starting a senior U.S. operations role on a defined timeline.
Can I change employers or get promoted to CEO while on an E-3?
Changing employers requires a new LCA and a new E-3 visa tied to the incoming employer's petition before you start work. A promotion within the same company to a materially different role, such as CEO, typically requires a new LCA to reflect the changed job duties and prevailing wage. Your employer should initiate the new filing before the role change takes effect.
