Frame your Australian degree correctly
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree satisfies the E-3 visa specialty occupation requirement. Bring your official transcript and, if asked, a credential evaluation confirming U.S. equivalency before your consulate appointment.
Target employers with active LCA history
Search DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for companies that have filed LCAs for marketing roles. Prior LCA activity signals an employer already understands sponsorship obligations and won't stall at the offer stage.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the offer stage
Ask the hiring manager whether their team has filed an LCA before. Some employers confuse E-3 with H-1B visa and assume a lottery is involved. A brief one-page explainer on E-3 mechanics can move hesitant offers forward.
Verify your job description meets specialty occupation standards
The role must normally require a bachelor's degree in a specific field, not just any degree. A job posting that says 'degree preferred' rather than 'degree required' can create problems at your consulate interview, so push for precise language.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the paperwork
Once you have a signed offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. This avoids the most common filing errors that delay marketing professionals' consulate appointments.
Time your application around consulate appointment slots
Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth consulates each have different wait times. After your LCA is certified by DOL, book your appointment at whichever location has the earliest availability rather than defaulting to your nearest city.
E-3 Visa Marketing Support Specialist: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Marketing Support Specialist jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Search Migrate Mate to find Marketing Support Specialist roles filtered specifically for E-3 sponsorship. Many general job boards list marketing roles without indicating visa support, so using a platform built for Australian professionals saves significant time. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with verified sponsorship history for this role type.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Marketing Support Specialist role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, advertising, or a closely related field. The specialty occupation test turns on whether the degree is a normal requirement for entry into that specific role. Generalist support positions where any bachelor's degree qualifies are more likely to face scrutiny at the consulate interview.
How does the E-3 compare to H-1B for Marketing Support Specialist roles?
The E-3 is significantly more practical for Australians in marketing roles. There's no annual lottery, no cap to exhaust, and you can apply as soon as your employer files a certified LCA. H-1B requires entering a random lottery with roughly a one-in-four chance of selection, which can delay a marketing career move by one or more years.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 as a Marketing Support Specialist?
Yes, but you can't transfer your existing E-3 to a new employer the way some other visa categories allow. Your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need to attend a new consulate appointment for a new E-3 stamp. Start that process before leaving your current role to avoid a gap in work authorization.
