Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Sales Engineer
Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
Your Australian engineering or computer science degree must correspond directly to the Sales Engineer role, not just be a general bachelor's. If your degree is in a tangential field, document how your technical coursework and certifications establish the required body of knowledge.
Target companies with active LCA filing history
Employers who've filed Labor Condition Applications for Sales Engineers in the past have already worked through prevailing wage determinations for the role. Prioritise those employers so the DOL certification step moves faster once you have an offer.
Address dual intent early in interviews
The E-3 visa is a nonimmigrant visa, so hiring managers sometimes flag long-term immigration plans as a risk. Explain that the E-3 renews indefinitely as long as you hold a qualifying role, which gives them predictable employment continuity without the H-1B lottery uncertainty.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service after accepting an offer
Once you have a signed offer letter, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork. The LCA must be certified by DOL before your consulate appointment, so getting the sequence right from the start avoids costly delays.
Clarify employment structure before the LCA is filed
Sales Engineers at SaaS and hardware companies often work across multiple client sites. The LCA must list your primary worksite, and material changes to location can require a new filing. Confirm with your employer whether your role is site-based, remote, or field-based before the paperwork starts.
Search specifically for E-3 sponsorship on Migrate Mate
Most U.S. job searches surface postings without any indication of visa sponsorship type. Migrate Mate filters for employers who sponsor E-3 visas, so you're not spending time on applications that will stall at the offer stage.
E-3 Visa Sales Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Sales Engineer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals seeking E-3 sponsorship, so you can filter Sales Engineer roles by employers who have confirmed willingness to sponsor. General job boards don't surface visa sponsorship type, which means you often only discover a company won't sponsor after you're deep into their interview process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Sales Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, or a closely related technical field. The key test is whether the degree requirement is real and specific. Roles where any bachelor's degree is accepted, regardless of field, are harder to qualify. Your employer will need to document the degree requirement in the LCA filing with DOL.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Sales Engineer roles?
The E-3 has no annual cap and no lottery, so you can apply at any time of year and your employer doesn't need to gamble on a selection draw. H-1B registrations are accepted once a year in March and only around one in four registrants is selected. For a Sales Engineer with an Australian passport, the E-3 is a direct path that skips the H-1B lottery entirely.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 as a Sales Engineer?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp if you leave the U.S. or if your current visa has expired. There's no portability provision like some other visa categories have. Plan the timing carefully so you don't have a gap between your last day with the current employer and the start date with the new one.
