Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Business Development Associate
Frame your degree for specialty occupation
Consular officers assess whether your business degree directly supports the role. A three-year Australian bachelor's degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree, but bring your official transcripts and a credential evaluation letter to your appointment.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Foreign Labor Application Gateway to confirm which U.S. companies have filed Labor Condition Applications for business development roles. Prior LCA activity signals an employer already understands E-3 sponsorship obligations and won't be learning the process at your expense.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your LCA
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. The LCA must be certified by DOL before your consulate appointment, and errors at this stage delay your start date.
Distinguish E-3 sponsorship from H-1B in outreach
When contacting U.S. hiring managers, clarify upfront that you need E-3 sponsorship, not H-1B. Many employers who declined H-1B candidates due to lottery risk are open to E-3 because there's no cap, no lottery, and the process can complete in weeks rather than months.
Negotiate your offer before LCA submission
Your offered salary must meet the DOL prevailing wage for the role and location before the LCA is filed. Lock in your compensation package and job title in writing first, as changes after LCA certification require refiling and reset your timeline.
Prepare your business development portfolio for the interview
Australian business development professionals often face consular scrutiny over whether the role genuinely requires a degree rather than general sales experience. Bring documentation tying your specific duties, such as market analysis or strategic partnerships, directly to your field of study.

Find Business Development Associate JobsBusiness Development Associate E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Business Development Associate jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the recommended way to search, as it filters specifically for U.S. employers open to E-3 sponsorship for Australian professionals. Standard job boards don't filter by visa type, so you risk investing time in applications with employers who won't sponsor. Searching by role and sponsorship status together significantly narrows the field to actionable opportunities.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Business Development Associate role qualify as an E-3 specialty occupation?
Yes, if the role requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as business administration, marketing, or economics as a minimum entry requirement. Roles that accept any degree, or substitute years of sales experience for a degree, can fail the specialty occupation test. Your offer letter and the employer's job description need to reflect the degree requirement explicitly.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Business Development Associate roles?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no numerical cap, so your start date depends on processing time rather than selection luck. H-1B registration opens once a year and carries roughly a 25% selection rate at current demand. For a Business Development Associate role with a willing sponsor, the E-3 can move from offer to approved visa in four to eight weeks, while an H-1B path could take over a year.
Can I change employers after starting on an E-3 as a Business Development Associate?
Yes, but the E-3 is employer-specific. Your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new visa stamp if you travel internationally before starting. You can begin working for the new employer once the LCA is certified and your new E-3 is approved, so plan your transition timeline carefully to avoid an authorization gap.
