Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Program Coordinator
Translate your Australian qualifications accurately
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree satisfies the E-3 visa specialty occupation requirement. Get a credential evaluation confirming your degree field aligns with the Program Coordinator role's duties, a mismatch here is the most common denial trigger.
Target employers already filing LCAs
Search DOL's OFLC disclosure database for employers who have previously filed Labor Condition Applications for program or project coordination roles. These organisations understand the E-3 process and won't need convincing that sponsorship is feasible.
Clarify specialty occupation before accepting an offer
Not every Program Coordinator title qualifies. Confirm the job description explicitly requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field, not just 'any related degree.' Roles listing the degree as preferred rather than required create problems at the consulate.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your LCA and paperwork
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA submission to DOL and prepare your consulate documentation. This is where timing matters, the LCA must be certified before you can schedule your visa interview.
Prepare for dual-intent scrutiny at your interview
Program Coordinator applicants often face questions about long-term career intentions. The E-3 requires nonimmigrant intent, so bring documentation showing your role is project-based or that you have ties to Australia, even if the position is ongoing.
Negotiate E-3 filing costs into your offer
The E-3 is employer-sponsored but the employer isn't legally required to cover all fees. Before signing your offer letter, clarify in writing which filing costs the employer will cover, this is standard practice and most U.S. employers expect the conversation.
E-3 Visa Program Coordinator: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Program Coordinator jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Search Migrate Mate to filter Program Coordinator roles by employers with active E-3 visa sponsorship history. Most general job boards don't surface sponsorship details, so you end up applying blind. Migrate Mate surfaces roles where the employer has already demonstrated willingness to file, saving you from chasing positions that will stall at the offer stage.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Program Coordinator role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the role is defined. A Program Coordinator position qualifies when the job description requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field, public administration, nonprofit management, communications, or a related discipline. Roles that list any bachelor's degree, or where the degree is preferred rather than required, are harder to support at the consulate. The employer's job description language is what the consular officer reviews, so precision in the offer letter matters.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Program Coordinator roles?
For Australian nationals, the E-3 is a significantly more practical path. There's no annual lottery, no cap of 65,000 that fills within days, and no premium processing gamble. You can apply directly at a U.S. consulate in Australia without waiting for a USCIS petition decision. The H-1B visa requires your employer to register in a lottery in March and wait months for a result, the E-3 lets you start within weeks of receiving a certified LCA.
Can I transfer my E-3 visa if I change Program Coordinator employers?
Yes, but you need to restart the process with the new employer. Your E-3 status is tied to a specific employer and job. The new employer must file a fresh Labor Condition Application with DOL, and you'll need to return to Australia for a new visa stamp unless you're changing status from within the U.S. on a valid visa. Give yourself enough lead time, LCA certification typically takes seven business days, and consulate appointment availability varies by location.
