Tips for Your Echocardiography Technician Job Search
Lead your resume with credentials
Listing your RDCS or RCS credential above your work history signals immediate eligibility to hiring managers who filter candidates before reading further. Include the issuing body, credential type, and expiration date so recruiters don't have to ask.
Tailor applications to echo modality
Job postings for pediatric echo, stress echo, and transesophageal echo are screened separately from general adult echo roles. Match your listed competencies to the specific modality in each posting rather than using a single version of your resume for every application.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists echocardiography technician openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Quantify image volume on your resume
Hiring teams want to know how many studies you complete per shift and which equipment platforms you've used independently. Stating your average daily study count and naming the echo systems you've operated gives interviewers concrete scope to evaluate.
Prepare for a practical skills assessment
Many cardiology departments and hospital systems ask finalists to perform a live or recorded scan on a volunteer or simulation phantom before a final offer. Practice optimizing image quality quickly on unfamiliar equipment, since the assessment often uses the department's own machines.
Negotiate shift differential and call pay separately
Base pay in echo roles is often non-negotiable within a hospital's pay band, but weekend differentials, on-call rates, and echo call coverage stipends frequently have more flexibility. Ask about those components explicitly once you have a written offer in hand.
Echocardiography Technician Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most echocardiography technicians?
The companies hiring the most echocardiography technicians right now include Atrium Health, City of Hope, and Fairview Health Services, with the largest share of openings in California, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Large health systems and cardiology-focused outpatient groups tend to post the highest volume of openings at any given time.
How many echocardiography technician jobs are remote?
About 0% of echocardiography technician openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the hands-on imaging nature of most roles. The sub-areas most likely to allow remote work are echo quality review, image interpretation support, and tele-echo reading positions that pair a remote sonographer with an on-site probe operator.
How do you become an echocardiography technician?
You typically complete an accredited cardiovascular technology or diagnostic medical sonography program, complete supervised clinical rotations focused on cardiac ultrasound, and then sit for the RDCS exam through ARDMS or the RCS exam through CCI. Most employers require or strongly prefer that you hold one of those credentials before your first day, though some hire candidates who are credential-eligible and grant a window to pass the exam after starting.
Can you get hired as an echocardiography technician with little experience?
Entry-level echocardiography technician positions do exist, particularly at large teaching hospitals and outpatient imaging groups that have structured orientation programs. Your clinical rotation hours count as practical experience, so document the study types and patient populations you scanned during training. Applying to roles that list new graduates as eligible and emphasizing your credential status will give you the strongest footing when you're starting out.
What does the echocardiography technician interview process look like?
Most hiring processes start with a phone or video screening focused on your credential status, modality experience, and equipment familiarity. A department manager or lead sonographer typically conducts a second interview covering image acquisition technique, protocol adherence, and how you handle challenging patients. Many facilities then require a hands-on scanning assessment before extending an offer, so expect to demonstrate your technique on their specific equipment.
Where can I find and apply to echocardiography technician jobs?
You can find and apply to echocardiography technician jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your credentials, modality experience, and preferred location, then apply directly to each listing that fits.
