Education Jobs in Brooklyn: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an education job in Brooklyn?
Focus your search on Brooklyn's dense public school networks, charter management organizations, and community-based nonprofits, which together account for the majority of local openings. Neighborhoods like Brownsville, East New York, and Borough Park have high concentrations of schools and youth-serving organizations that hire consistently. Candidates who demonstrate experience with diverse student populations and bilingual instruction, particularly in Spanish, tend to stand out in Brooklyn's competitive education market.
Which companies hire educators in Brooklyn?
Employers hiring educations in Brooklyn right now include Achieve Beyond Pediatric Therapy and Autism Services, Our Future School, and CAMBA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Brooklyn's education employer base includes large public school clusters, independent charter networks, and community colleges with multiple campuses spread across the borough.
Are there remote education jobs in Brooklyn?
Yes, though remote availability is limited for classroom-based roles and much more common for curriculum development, instructional design, and education technology positions. About 0% of education openings tied to Brooklyn are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the sector's overall reliance on in-person instruction. The roles most likely to offer flexibility in Brooklyn are those tied to edtech companies and nonprofit program coordination.
How can I get an education job in Brooklyn with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Brooklyn is through a paraprofessional or teaching assistant role in a public or charter school, which typically requires only a high school diploma or some college credit. Brooklyn-based early childhood centers and after-school programs run by organizations in Flatbush and Bushwick also hire entry-level staff regularly. Volunteering with a local literacy or tutoring nonprofit and completing a classroom observation requirement can give candidates a measurable edge when applying.
