Rondout Valley Central School District is seeking a dedicated and student-centered .4 FTE (2 days/week) School Social Worker Long-Term Substitute to support students, families, and school communities across the District. This position is needed through November 2026.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative, resourceful professional who is committed to building strong relationships with students and families, including work within homes and the broader community when appropriate. This position plays an important role in connecting families with supportive agencies, addressing barriers to student success, supporting attendance and engagement, and assisting students and families in accessing needed resources.
Qualifications:
- NYS Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
- NYSED School Social Worker Certification
- SED Fingerprint Clearance
Salary: Per Diem
General Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and/or group counseling services to students, including counseling and related services identified in students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Serve as the District's homeless liaison, including supporting students and families under McKinney-Vento and maintaining ongoing communication with community agencies and other resources.
- Refer students and families to appropriate agencies and community-based supports when needed.
- Serve as a member of student support teams and special education committees.
- Support interventions designed to improve attendance for students who are at risk of chronic absenteeism.
- Provide resource appointments and support for at-risk families.
- Work collaboratively with students, families, staff, administrators, and outside providers to address student needs.
- Support students and families experiencing a wide range of social, emotional, behavioral, mental health, family, environmental, attendance, and community-related concerns.
- Assist with issues related to adjustment, family difficulties, behavioral and learning needs, substance abuse concerns, emotional disturbances, community challenges, and other barriers that may impact student success.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the direct supervisor and/or Superintendent.
