Education Jobs in Philadelphia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a education job in Philadelphia?
Philadelphia's education market is shaped by the School District of Philadelphia, a large charter school sector, and anchor universities clustered in West Philadelphia and North Philadelphia. Candidates who know the city's neighborhood school landscape, have experience with urban student populations, or hold endorsements relevant to bilingual or special education instruction stand out. Connecting with local professional networks and applying directly through district and charter management organization portals gives you a concrete edge here.
Which companies hire educations in Philadelphia?
Philadelphia education roles are posted by School District of Philadelphia, University of Pennsylvania, and THG and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The hiring pool includes the School District of Philadelphia, charter management organizations, community colleges, private universities, and nonprofits running out-of-school-time programs across the city.
Are there remote education jobs in Philadelphia?
Yes, but only for roles that don't require in-person instruction or direct student contact, such as curriculum development, instructional design, and education technology. About 0% of education openings tied to Philadelphia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, which is lower than most professional fields given the hands-on nature of teaching. Roles in ed-tech firms and nonprofit program management based in Philadelphia are the most common remote options locally.
How can I get a education job in Philadelphia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Philadelphia is through substitute teaching with the School District of Philadelphia or a charter network, which frequently converts to full-time positions. Paraprofessional and instructional aide roles at district schools, after-school program coordinators at Philadelphia nonprofits, and AmeriCorps placements with local education organizations are strong lateral moves. Familiarity with Philadelphia's neighborhood school communities and experience with diverse urban learners gives entry-level candidates a meaningful advantage over general applicants.
