Education Program Manager Jobs in Arizona: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a education program manager in Arizona?
Most Arizona employers require at least a bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, curriculum and instruction, or a related field, with a master's degree preferred for senior roles. K-12 district positions often expect candidates to hold or be eligible for an Arizona Department of Education certification, while higher education and nonprofit roles typically emphasize program management experience and measurable outcomes over a specific credential. Building a portfolio of curriculum projects and program evaluations strengthens applications significantly.
How much do education program managers make in Arizona?
Education program managers in Arizona earn a median of about $125,770 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $82,500 for the lowest 10% to over $212,740 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire education program managers in Arizona?
Employers hiring education program managers in Arizona right now include University of Arizona, Southern California University, and Avondale Elementary School District, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Arizona's large community college system, major hospital networks with continuing education requirements, and the state's growing workforce development sector all generate steady demand for this role.
Which Arizona cities have the most education program manager jobs?
Phoenix, Tucson, and Mesa have the most education program manager openings in Arizona. Phoenix dominates because it is home to the state's largest school districts, university campuses, and corporate headquarters with internal training functions, while Tucson draws openings through the University of Arizona and surrounding healthcare and government employers, and Tempe benefits from Arizona State University's sprawling operations and the dense concentration of education-adjacent organizations nearby.
Are there remote education program manager jobs in Arizona?
Yes, and they are more common than in many comparable roles, particularly for positions focused on online curriculum development, e-learning design, or grant-funded program coordination. About 67% of education program manager openings tied to Arizona are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, reflecting the field's shift toward digital program delivery. Roles requiring direct facilitation with students or community participants remain predominantly on-site.
How can I get hired as a education program manager in Arizona with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a coordinator or program specialist role at one of Arizona's large community college districts or workforce development nonprofits, where hands-on program administration experience builds quickly. Maricopa County Community College District and organizations operating under Arizona's workforce innovation funding regularly hire entry-level program coordinators who move into management within a few years. Lateral moves from teaching, instructional coaching, or training facilitation are also common, and candidates who earn a project management certificate or demonstrate grant reporting experience stand out early.
