Educator Jobs in Philadelphia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a educator job in Philadelphia?
The strongest path into Philadelphia's educator market runs through the School District of Philadelphia, the city's extensive charter school sector, and the cluster of universities and community colleges anchored in University City and North Philadelphia. Candidates who have classroom experience in urban school settings, familiarity with the city's curriculum frameworks, or a background in community-based education programs stand out locally. Targeting both district postings and individual charter networks broadens your options considerably.
Which companies hire educators in Philadelphia?
Companies currently hiring educators in Philadelphia include University of Pennsylvania, Thomas Jefferson University & Jefferson Health, and Tower Health, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Philadelphia's hiring mix is broad, drawing from the public school district, independent charter management organizations, private and parochial schools, workforce development nonprofits, and major research universities concentrated in the University City corridor.
Are there remote educator jobs in Philadelphia?
Yes, though remote availability is limited for most classroom and direct-instruction roles, which require in-person presence by nature. About 18% of educator openings tied to Philadelphia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with those positions most commonly found in curriculum development, instructional design, online tutoring, and corporate training functions rather than traditional school settings.
How can I get a educator job in Philadelphia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in Philadelphia is through substitute teaching or paraprofessional roles within the School District of Philadelphia or local charter networks, which regularly hire candidates who are still completing certification. Literacy and tutoring programs run by Philadelphia nonprofits, community learning centers in neighborhoods like Kensington and West Philadelphia, and after-school programs affiliated with community development organizations also hire entry-level educators. Completing a Philadelphia-area student teaching placement strengthens any application.
Which industries hire the most educators in Philadelphia?
Most educator openings in Philadelphia sit in Education, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Agriculture & Farming, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Philadelphia's position as a major higher-education hub, combined with one of the largest urban public school systems on the East Coast and a substantial nonprofit workforce development sector, keeps consistent hiring pressure across those segments.
