Austin's strongest hiring comes from semiconductor firms, defense contractors, clean energy developers, and large-scale construction and infrastructure companies. Roles concentrate in the Domain, North Austin tech parks, and the Mueller and East Riverside redevelopment corridors. Candidates with PMP certification and hands-on experience managing cross-functional teams in any of those sectors stand out. Tailoring your application to show Austin-specific project scale and stakeholder complexity gives you a real edge.
Which companies hire engineering project managers in Austin?

Austin's employer mix skews toward semiconductor and hardware manufacturers, defense and aerospace primes, and fast-growing clean energy and infrastructure firms looking for project leaders who can manage complex technical timelines.
Are there remote engineering project manager jobs in Austin?
Yes, though with limits. Engineering project management often requires on-site presence for facilities, manufacturing, or construction work, so fully remote roles are less common than in purely desk-based fields. About 65% of engineering project manager openings tied to Austin are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common among software, systems, and program management roles at Austin's technology employers.
How can I get an engineering project manager job in Austin with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Austin is moving into a junior or associate project coordinator role at one of the city's semiconductor fabrication or clean energy companies, which often hire entry-level candidates with a relevant engineering degree and strong organizational skills. Pursuing a PMP or CAPM certification while working in a technical support or quality role at an Austin employer is a common stepping stone. Austin's University of Texas engineering alumni network also connects new graduates to local employers actively hiring for junior project roles.
