INTRODUCTION
Engineering Consulting Services (ECS) is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our team. This role is responsible to ensure that all required tasks on a project from proposal to final invoice payment are completed either by themselves or by subordinates. The Senior Project Manager is primarily responsible for the completion and overall success of the project. Senior Project Manager will act as the main point of contact for the client on their projects. The ideal candidate presents a positive customer service attitude and understanding of ECS Core Values.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage water treatment/remediation projects end-to-end (proposal through delivery), owning scope, budget, schedule, safety, QA/QC, invoicing, and client coordination.
- Design and oversee groundwater and surface water treatment systems (temporary dewatering + permanent remedial), including engineering drawings/specs, cost estimates, and permitting.
- Perform hydrogeologic and fate/transport evaluations to support system design, and lead pilot testing, treatability studies, startups, installation oversight, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring.
- Actively mentor junior staff and support overall development of the team.
- Attend project meetings and provide solutions to technical and administrative issues as necessary.
- Market our services. Maintain and further develop the client database.
- Strong ability to manage project budgets and prepare change orders. Manage your project budgets and oversee project budgets of others as assigned. Review change orders and invoices. Assist with collection efforts.
- Scheduling, training and oversight of subordinate staff members.
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Oversee environmental projects. Assist junior staff with resolution of issues and training of field staff. Responsible for several projects being performed simultaneously.
- Oversee the preparation and review of proposals and change orders.
- Prepare environmental reports, perform analysis and provide recommendations. Oversee the preparation and review of environmental reports from junior staff.
- Perform peer/senior review of deliverables prior to submission for Principal review.
- Host or attend project discussions with clients, follow up on reports to determine if there are questions.
- Collaborate with other managers to make staffing decisions.
- Direct project set up and implementation with junior staff. Ensure that appropriately trained and experienced staff are assigned.
- Solid understanding of sample collection, preparation, sample hold times, preservation and laboratory submission regulations and guidelines.
- Extensive knowledge of federal, state and local environmental regulations and guidelines and their implications on findings and conclusions in studies. Understand the client's goals for the project and provide guidance which considers their goals while complying with applicable regulations. Understand how the requirements of different service lines could impact the regulatory obligations or constructability of the project.
- Review daily reports produced by field staff. Perform routine visits to active project sites to ensure appropriate quality and progress. Mentor junior staff as needed. Communicate project completion milestones with client and advise on any significant directional changes.
- Direct site activities and maintain continuous communication with subordinate field staff and senior managers on several projects concurrently. Discuss how changes at the site could affect the project outcome or budget with the project Principal.
- Independently prepare reports to be reviewed by a Principal. Review reports that are completed by subordinates prior to Principal review. Lead client meetings and or calls to present/discuss report findings and conclusions.
- Communicate with junior staff to direct field work performed by drill crews, test pit crews and assist with rig access issues on Groundwater and soil investigations. Perform media sampling as required on the project. May involve several projects being performed simultaneously. Ensure the site is restored prior to demobilizing the site. Ensure that the scope of work performed matches the scope of work proposed.
- Develop site work plans including sample/boring locations, equipment needs, safety requirements and subcontractor logistics that account for client goals for the project.
- Manage remediation system design, installation, operation and maintenance. Communicate with the project Principal any onsite conditions that may impact the scope, budget, or technology needed onsite.
- Manage underground storage tank assessments. Ensure properly licensed individuals are performing the work and that ECS safety protocols are followed.
- Support and oversee Staff PM's and Project Managers in their development.
- Other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other Engineering degree applicable to Environmental Consulting, Natural or Environmental Science, Geology, or other degree relevant to the practice of Environmental Consulting.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) license preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Extensive knowledge of environmental principles and applications.
- Extensive knowledge of permitting processes, environmental regulations, and environmental test methods.
- Extensive ability to manage and develop new clients. Seek out opportunities to develop relationships with clients.
- Review and provide feedback of field and laboratory testing by others. Perform training and/or corrective action as necessary.
- Excellent ability to manage and develop new clients.
- Experience delegating/assigning projects and tasks to other staff while also managing other projects independently.
