Environmental Specialist Jobs in Phoenix: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an environmental specialist job in Phoenix?
Phoenix's strongest hiring sectors for environmental specialists are construction and land development, municipal government, and environmental consulting firms serving the Southwest region. Jobs concentrate in Tempe, Chandler, and along the I-10 corridor near Sky Harbor. Candidates who stand out in this market typically have field experience with Arizona-specific conditions, familiarity with desert site assessments, and exposure to stormwater or air quality compliance work common in Maricopa County.
Which companies hire environmental specialists in Phoenix?
Companies currently hiring environmental specialists in Phoenix include State of Arizona, ASM, and Ergon, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Phoenix's market is anchored by large engineering and consulting firms, Maricopa County government agencies, and construction companies managing rapid residential and commercial development across the metro.
Are there remote environmental specialist jobs in Phoenix?
Yes, though availability is limited, since much of this work involves field assessments, site monitoring, and regulatory inspections that require physical presence. About 75% of environmental specialist openings tied to Phoenix are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, and those roles tend to be report writing, data analysis, and compliance documentation positions rather than field-based ones.
How can I get an environmental specialist job in Phoenix with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Phoenix is through environmental consulting firms that hire field technicians for Phase I and Phase II site assessments, then promote from within. Maricopa County and the City of Phoenix also hire environmental aides and technicians as entry-level roles. A degree in environmental science, geology, or a related field combined with any field sampling or GIS coursework gives candidates a meaningful edge in local hiring.
Which industries hire the most environmental specialists in Phoenix?
Most environmental specialist openings in Phoenix sit in Electronics & Hardware and Waste Management & Environmental Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Phoenix's rapid population growth and ongoing infrastructure expansion drive consistent demand across those sectors, particularly for compliance work tied to desert land development and Maricopa County air quality requirements.
