Estimator Jobs in Dallas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a estimator job in Dallas?
Dallas estimator roles are concentrated in construction, civil engineering, and industrial sectors, with strong hiring in Uptown, the Design District, and the Las Colinas corridor. General contractors, MEP firms, and commercial developers are the most active employers. Candidates with hands-on field experience, proficiency in estimating software like Bluebeam or PlanSwift, and familiarity with Texas commercial building codes stand out in this market.
Which companies hire estimators in Dallas?
Companies currently hiring estimators in Dallas include Linesight, TDIndustries, and Rand Construction, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Dallas attracts a wide range of employers from regional general contractors and specialty subcontractors to large engineering and infrastructure firms serving the DFW metropolitan area.
Are there remote estimator jobs in Dallas?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on the type of estimating work. Desk-based and quantity takeoff roles are more remote-friendly, while field or preconstruction estimators typically work on-site. About 44% of estimator openings tied to Dallas are remote or hybrid as of August 2026. Software-driven cost estimation and bid preparation roles are the most likely to offer flexible arrangements locally.
How can I get a estimator job in Dallas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Dallas is through a junior estimator or estimating assistant role with a regional subcontractor or specialty trade firm in the DFW construction market. Local mechanical, electrical, and plumbing contractors frequently hire entry-level candidates willing to learn takeoff software on the job. A background in construction management, civil engineering technology, or even hands-on trade work gives applicants a concrete edge over general candidates.
Which industries hire the most estimators in Dallas?
Dallas estimator roles concentrate in Construction & Real Estate, Manufacturing, and Staffing & Recruiting, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The continued expansion of commercial real estate, data center development, and transportation infrastructure across the DFW region keeps steady demand for estimating talent across these sectors.
