Production Control Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a production control manager in Texas?
The most direct path is a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, or operations management, followed by progressive experience in production planning or materials control roles. Texas does not require a state-issued license for this position, but employers across the state consistently favor candidates who hold APICS certifications such as CPIM or CSCP, which demonstrate mastery of production and inventory management principles recognized industry-wide.
How much do production control managers make in Texas?
Production control managers in Texas earn a median of about $130,890 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $79,780 for the lowest 10% to over $207,880 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire production control managers in Texas?
Employers hiring production control managers in Texas right now include National Vision, Celestica, and APPLIED OPTOELECTRONICS, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of aerospace, defense, energy, and industrial manufacturing companies means demand for this role is spread across a broad range of established employers throughout the state.
Which Texas cities have the most production control manager jobs?
Plano, Richardson, and Amarillo have the most production control manager openings in Texas. Houston's dominance reflects its deep base of petrochemical, energy equipment, and industrial manufacturing employers, while Dallas-Fort Worth draws demand from aerospace, defense contractors, and electronics manufacturers, and San Antonio contributes through its growing advanced manufacturing and military-adjacent industrial sector.
Are there remote production control manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Production control managers typically work on-site or near the shop floor to coordinate schedules, monitor inventory, and respond to production disruptions in real time. About 0% of production control manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to involve planning and reporting functions rather than direct floor oversight.
How can I get hired as a production control manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a production planner, scheduler, or materials coordinator role at one of Texas's large manufacturing employers such as Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, or major Houston-area industrial firms, which regularly hire candidates with supply chain or engineering degrees and little hands-on experience. Completing an APICS CPIM certification while in an entry-level role signals readiness for advancement, and lateral moves from purchasing, inventory control, or logistics positions are a common path into production control management across Texas.
