Entry Level Facilities Maintenance Technician Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level facilities maintenance technician job?
Employers at this level look for candidates who can demonstrate basic mechanical aptitude, familiarity with hand and power tools, and a willingness to learn preventive maintenance routines. Completing a vocational program, earning a relevant certification such as HVAC or electrical safety, or pointing to hands-on projects from coursework or a home repair background gives entry level applicants a clear edge over candidates with no practical exposure at all.
Which companies hire entry level facilities maintenance technicians?
Companies hiring entry level facilities maintenance technicians right now include Walmart, United Airlines, and CBRE, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Employers at this level range from property management firms and hospital systems to manufacturing plants and university campuses, all of which regularly bring on junior technicians to support experienced maintenance teams.
Are there remote entry level facilities maintenance technician jobs?
Yes, though most openings in this trade are on-site by nature. About 0% of entry level facilities maintenance technician openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those roles typically involve work order coordination, facilities scheduling, or administrative support rather than hands-on equipment work. Candidates open to on-site positions will find significantly more opportunities at this stage.
Are these new grad facilities maintenance technician jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior facilities maintenance technician roles. A new grad friendly posting typically welcomes zero to two years of experience and treats internship work, vocational training, or a demonstrated portfolio of hands-on projects as equivalent to paid employment. Look for postings that mention apprenticeship programs, on-the-job training, or mentorship as signals that the employer is open to candidates just entering the field.
