Field Manager Jobs in San Diego: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a field manager job in San Diego?
Focus your search on San Diego's construction and infrastructure boom along the South Bay and Mission Valley corridors, and on defense and telecom contractors concentrated in Kearny Mesa and Sorrento Valley. General contractors working on the region's ongoing military base upgrades, transit projects, and coastal development hire field managers consistently. Candidates who can demonstrate hands-on site coordination in San Diego's permit environment and fast-paced build schedules have a clear edge over generalist applicants.
Which companies hire field managers in San Diego?
Companies currently hiring field managers in San Diego include BD, oura, and Hilton, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. San Diego's mix of large federal contractors, regional utilities, and mid-size construction firms means openings appear across both corporate operations and project-based roles throughout the metro.
Are there remote field manager jobs in San Diego?
Yes, but with limits, since field manager roles are inherently site-dependent and hands-on work rarely moves fully remote. About 50% of field manager openings tied to San Diego are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, mostly in scheduling, reporting, and vendor coordination functions. Telecom project management and utility operations roles in San Diego tend to offer the most hybrid flexibility among field-oriented positions.
How can I get a field manager job in San Diego with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Diego is through a field coordinator or assistant superintendent role with one of the region's residential or commercial general contractors, many of which are actively building out Chula Vista, National City, and the Midway District. Community college construction management programs through San Diego Continuing Education can strengthen a resume quickly. Bilingual Spanish skills are a genuine advantage given the workforce composition on many South Bay and East County job sites.
Which industries hire the most field managers in San Diego?
The sectors hiring the most field managers in San Diego are Fintech, Technology & Software, and Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. San Diego's sustained military infrastructure investment, active commercial construction pipeline, and regional utility expansion projects drive consistent demand across those sectors year-round.
