Field Nurse Case Manager Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a field nurse case manager in Louisiana?
You become a field nurse case manager in Louisiana by first holding an active Registered Nurse license through the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, which requires passing the NCLEX-RN exam. Most employers then expect several years of clinical experience before moving into case management. Earning the Certified Case Manager credential through the Commission for Case Manager Certification strengthens your candidacy considerably. Louisiana employers in workers' compensation and managed care especially value applicants who combine clinical background with knowledge of utilization review and community resources.
How much do field nurse case managers make in Louisiana?
Field nurse case managers in Louisiana earn a median of about $80,230 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $63,800 for the lowest 10% to over $104,740 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire field nurse case managers in Louisiana?
Louisiana field nurse case manager roles are posted by CVS Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. Managed care organizations, workers' compensation insurers, and home health agencies with Louisiana operations are consistently among the most active sources of openings across the state.
Which Louisiana cities have the most field nurse case manager jobs?
Louisiana, Monroe, and Baton Rouge currently lead Louisiana in field nurse case manager openings. New Orleans anchors demand through its large hospital systems and extensive managed care networks, Baton Rouge draws openings from state government health programs and regional insurers, and Shreveport sees activity from workers' compensation carriers and home health agencies serving northwest Louisiana and the Ark-La-Tex region.
Are there remote field nurse case manager jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, but they're limited. The field portion of this role requires in-person patient visits, which keeps most positions tied to a geographic service area. About 100% of field nurse case manager openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, and those tend to cover documentation, care coordination calls, and utilization review rather than direct patient contact.
How can I get hired as a field nurse case manager in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is transitioning from a direct clinical role into a case management coordinator or utilization review position at a Louisiana managed care organization or home health agency such as Amedisys or LHC Group. Ochsner Health and Louisiana Healthcare Connections periodically post transitional care nurse and care coordinator roles that serve as internal stepping stones. Earning a case management certification while still in a clinical position signals readiness to hiring managers and offsets a thin case management resume.
Where can I find and apply to field nurse case manager jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to field nurse case manager jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your experience and preferred service area, and apply directly to those positions.
