Field Operations Supervisor Jobs in Rhode Island: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a field operations supervisor in Rhode Island?
Most field operations supervisors in Rhode Island enter the role by combining relevant experience with a degree in operations management, construction management, engineering technology, or a closely related field from institutions such as the University of Rhode Island or Rhode Island College. Rhode Island does not require a state-issued license specific to the field operations supervisor title, but employers in utilities and construction consistently expect an OSHA 30 certification and, for electrical or plumbing oversight roles, familiarity with Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training trade licensing requirements.
Which companies hire field operations supervisors in Rhode Island?
Companies currently hiring field operations supervisors in Rhode Island include Gilbane, StrongHouse, and ConcertoCare, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Rhode Island's concentration of utility, construction, and defense-adjacent employers means openings appear regularly across both the Providence metro and smaller industrial communities like North Kingstown and East Providence.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most field operations supervisor jobs?
The cities with the most field operations supervisor openings in Rhode Island are Providence, Warwick, and Cranston. Providence anchors the market as the state's commercial and infrastructure hub, while Warwick draws openings through its concentration of logistics, aviation support at T.F. Green Airport, and regional corporate campuses, and Woonsocket sees demand from manufacturing and distribution operations based in the northern corridor.
Are there remote field operations supervisor jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, but they're rare. Field operations supervisors are fundamentally on-site roles requiring direct crew oversight, equipment inspection, and real-time problem-solving in the field. About 36% of field operations supervisor openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to involve scheduling coordination, reporting, or administrative functions rather than hands-on field supervision.
How can I get hired as a field operations supervisor in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is to enter through a field technician, operations associate, or crew lead role with employers like National Grid or Gilbane, both of which hire entry-level field staff in Rhode Island and promote from within. The Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training supports registered apprenticeship programs in construction and utilities trades that build directly toward supervisory eligibility. Earning an OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification before applying gives candidates a concrete edge over others without supervisory credentials.
Where can I find and apply to field operations supervisor jobs in Rhode Island?
You can find and apply to field operations supervisor jobs in Rhode Island on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings in the state. Search the roles available, find the ones that match your background and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
