Field Service Technician Jobs in Kansas

As an OCR (Oil Circuit Recloser) Field Service Technician, you’ll play an important role in supporting our customers by inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and servicing electrical power distribution equipment. You’ll work hands-on in a variety of environments, apply your technical expertise to solve complex electrical challenges, and deliver exceptional service to our customers.

• Work under moderate to heavy supervision from Senior Field Service Technicians while developing technical skills and field experience.

• Assist with the inspection, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical power distribution equipment.

• Perform basic electrical testing and assist senior technicians with more complex testing activities.

• Assist with testing and maintenance activities involving reclosers, sectionalizers, oil switches and related electrical equipment.

• Learn to properly operate industrial electrical test equipment and hand tools.

• Follow all company and customer safety requirements, including PPE, lockout/tagout, and hazard awareness procedures.

• Maintain accurate daily service reports, testing documentation, and other required job records.

• Properly manage, check in/out, transport, and care for company tools and test equipment.

• Support senior technicians and project teams in completing field assignments safely, efficiently, and according to customer requirements.

• Interact professionally with customers and represent Sunbelt Solomon positively while working at customer sites.

• Extensive travel locally and regionally, based on business and customer needs.

• Overtime and work outside of regular business hours, including nights and weekends, may be required based on outages, emergency service calls, and project deadlines.

• High school diploma or GED; technical training or associate degree in electrical trades preferred.
• 1+ years of relevant work experience on commercial or industrial electrical projects
• Basic understanding of electrical theory, AC/DC fundamentals, and safe work practices Strong communication skills and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
• Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams and control schematics. Skilled in the use of industrial electrical test equipment and hand tools.
• Strong commitment to safety, including PPE use, lockout/tagout, and hazard awareness.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background and drug-screen requirements.
• Willingness to travel to job sites and work extended or irregular hours as needed.
• Eligibility to work in the US without need for employer sponsored VISA (work permit)

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in outdoor or industrial environments.
• Ability to stand 10-12 hours a day
• Ability to travel in a work vehicle up to 8-10 hours in a day.
