Finance Director Jobs in Seattle: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a finance director job in Seattle?
The strongest path is targeting Seattle's technology and life sciences sectors, where finance directors manage rapid growth, M&A activity, and complex forecasting cycles. South Lake Union and the Central Business District concentrate the most openings. Candidates who come in with experience in SaaS revenue recognition, biotech cost accounting, or multi-entity consolidations stand out locally. Networking through CFO-level contacts at mid-size Seattle tech firms also opens doors faster than applying cold.
Which companies hire finance directors in Seattle?
Employers hiring finance directors in Seattle right now include Databricks, CRUSOE, and Grüns, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Seattle's hiring pool leans toward high-growth technology companies, regional healthcare systems, and publicly traded firms headquartered in the greater Puget Sound area.
Are there remote finance director jobs in Seattle?
Yes, though remotely, finance director roles are less common than fully on-site ones because the position typically requires close collaboration with the CFO, board, and operating teams. About 60% of finance director openings tied to Seattle are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at Seattle-based technology firms where strategic planning and financial modeling work travels well outside the office.
How can I get a finance director job in Seattle with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is stepping into a senior finance manager or controller role at a mid-size Seattle technology or life sciences company first, then moving up internally. Companies in South Lake Union and Bellevue frequently promote from within when a candidate demonstrates ownership over close cycles and cross-functional planning. Building relationships with CFOs at Seattle's startup community and pursuing a CPA or CFA credential while in a senior individual-contributor role accelerates the transition.
Which industries hire the most finance directors in Seattle?
The sectors hiring the most finance directors in Seattle are Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Seattle's concentration of enterprise software companies, major hospital networks like UW Medicine and Swedish Health, and a growing fintech ecosystem makes those sectors the primary drivers of local finance director demand.
