Finance Jobs in Baltimore: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a finance job in Baltimore?
Target Baltimore's strongest hiring sectors: financial services firms in Harbor East, health system finance teams at major hospital networks, and government contractors based in the broader metro. Candidates who understand healthcare revenue cycles or federal contract accounting stand out locally. Networking through the CFA Society Maryland and Baltimore-area finance meetups also opens doors that online applications alone won't reach.
Which companies hire finances in Baltimore?
Companies currently hiring finances in Baltimore include Johns Hopkins University, Jhpiego, and CFG Bank, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Baltimore's employer mix runs from large regional banks and health systems to federal agencies, defense contractors, and mid-size asset managers clustered near the Inner Harbor and Harbor East corridors.
Are there remote finance jobs in Baltimore?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role. Analytical and reporting functions tend to offer remote or hybrid options, while treasury, audit, and on-site accounting positions typically require in-person presence. About 60% of finance openings tied to Baltimore are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. Financial planning and analysis roles at Baltimore-area companies are among the most likely to offer schedule flexibility.
How can I get a finance job in Baltimore with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Baltimore is through accounts payable, accounts receivable, or financial analyst assistant roles at the city's large health systems or regional banks, which hire in volume and promote internally. University of Maryland Medical System, Towson-area financial services firms, and Baltimore's nonprofit sector regularly post entry-level finance openings. A finance-related internship with any local institution, even unpaid, substantially improves your odds for full-time placement in the same market.
