Finance Jobs in Buffalo: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a finance job in Buffalo?
Focus your search on Buffalo's banking and insurance corridor downtown and the healthcare finance roles tied to the medical campus on the East Side. Regional banks, credit unions, health systems, and insurance carriers hire the most finance professionals here. Candidates who know Buffalo's regional economy, hold a CPA or CFA, and can show local networking through groups like the Buffalo Niagara Partnership tend to move faster through hiring.
Which companies hire finances in Buffalo?
Employers hiring finances in Buffalo right now include Moog, Calspan, and Augmentis, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Buffalo's employer mix skews toward regional banks, insurance carriers, large health systems, and manufacturing companies with in-house finance teams, giving candidates a range of industries to target.
Are there remote finance jobs in Buffalo?
Yes, though it depends on the role, as analytical and reporting positions are more remote-friendly than hands-on treasury or audit work. About 0% of finance openings tied to Buffalo are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broader employer flexibility. Financial analyst, FP&A, and accounting roles are the most likely to offer hybrid schedules among Buffalo-based employers.
How can I get a finance job in Buffalo with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Buffalo is through a bank teller, credit union associate, or accounts payable role at one of the city's regional financial institutions or large employers like a health system or manufacturer. Buffalo's mid-size market means hiring managers are often accessible, and lateral moves from operations or customer service into finance are common. A degree from the University at Buffalo or Buffalo State, combined with an internship in the Buffalo Niagara region, gives a strong local credential.
