Financial Project Manager Jobs in Kentucky: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial project manager in Kentucky?
Most financial project managers in Kentucky start with a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business, then build project management credentials through the Project Management Professional certification offered by the Project Management Institute. Kentucky does not require a state-issued license specific to this role, but employers in Louisville's healthcare finance and insurance sectors consistently expect the PMP or CAPM alongside several years of relevant financial operations experience.
How much do financial project managers make in Kentucky?
Financial project managers in Kentucky earn a median of about $81,700 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $52,090 for the lowest 10% to over $131,670 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire financial project managers in Kentucky?
Employers hiring financial project managers in Kentucky right now include Tempur + Sealy, Yanfeng, and Bank of America, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Louisville-based employers in healthcare, insurance, and manufacturing tend to post the most consistent volume, given Kentucky's concentration of regional headquarters and hospital systems.
Which Kentucky cities have the most financial project manager jobs?
Louisville, Lexington, and Edgewood account for the most financial project manager openings in Kentucky. Louisville dominates because of its density of insurance, healthcare, and logistics headquarters, while Lexington's university health system and growing professional services sector drive demand there, and the Northern Kentucky corridor benefits from its proximity to Cincinnati's larger financial and corporate operations base.
Are there remote financial project manager jobs in Kentucky?
Yes, and more than most fields, since financial project management is largely desk-based and communication-driven work. About 35% of financial project manager openings tied to Kentucky are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broader adoption across finance and operations teams. Budget oversight, reporting coordination, and vendor management tasks are the functions most commonly performed fully remote.
How can I get hired as a financial project manager in Kentucky with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a financial analyst, budget analyst, or operations coordinator role into a junior project management position. Large Kentucky employers like Humana and regional health systems often post associate project manager or project coordinator roles that accept candidates with finance coursework and no direct PM experience. Earning the CAPM before applying, and building a portfolio of process improvement or budgeting work from any prior role, gives early-career candidates a measurable edge over other applicants.
Where can I find and apply to financial project manager jobs in Kentucky?
You can find and apply to financial project manager jobs in Kentucky on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Kentucky employers and locations. Search the listings, find roles that match your background and target city, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
