Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Behavior Technician
Verify your RBT credentials before applying
A current Registered Behavior Technician certificate from the BACB signals to PERM-sponsoring employers that you meet the minimum qualifications DOL will scrutinize during labor certification, reducing the risk of a recruitment audit.
Target ABA clinics with E-Verify enrollment
Behavioral health clinics enrolled in E-Verify are already operating compliant hiring workflows. That infrastructure makes them meaningfully more prepared to absorb the added complexity of a PERM-based green card sponsorship for a Behavior Technician.
Search green card sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Behavior Technician openings by employers with active EB-3 sponsorship history. Targeting roles where PERM filings are already part of the hiring process cuts down on offers that stall at the legal approval stage.
Request the prevailing wage tier in writing early
Your employer files a prevailing wage determination with OFLC before starting PERM recruitment. Ask which wage level they intend to request. Level I or II designations can affect your long-term compensation and how DOL reviews the job offer.

Find Behavior Technician JobsBehavior Technician Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Behavior Technician role qualify for an EB-3 green card?
Yes. Behavior Technician positions typically qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers when the role requires at least two years of training or a bachelor's degree. Your employer initiates the process by filing a PERM application with DOL, documenting that no qualified U.S. worker was available, then files an I-140 petition with USCIS on your behalf.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for Behavior Technicians?
The H-1B requires the role to meet a specialty occupation standard, which can be difficult to establish for Behavior Technician positions. EB-3 green card sponsorship through PERM has no annual lottery and no specialty occupation requirement. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM plus I-140 adjudication typically takes one to two years before you reach the adjustment of status stage, compared to H-1B's faster approval but temporary status.
How do I find Behavior Technician jobs where employers will sponsor a green card?
Search Migrate Mate to find Behavior Technician openings filtered by employers with employment-based green card sponsorship history. Many behavioral health and ABA therapy employers sponsor but don't advertise it prominently in job postings, so filtering by sponsorship activity is more reliable than reading job descriptions alone.
What is the PERM process and what does it require from a Behavior Technician applicant?
PERM, which stands for Program Electronic Review Management, is the DOL labor certification process employers must complete before filing your I-140 immigrant petition. Your employer conducts a formal recruitment campaign to show no available U.S. worker meets the minimum requirements. Your role is to provide documentation confirming your qualifications match the certified job description, including your degree, RBT certification, and any supervised experience hours.
Does my RBT certification from the BACB affect my green card eligibility?
Your RBT certification strengthens your PERM case by confirming you meet the role's minimum qualifications, which DOL auditors review during labor certification. It does not independently determine your visa category. Your degree level is the primary factor: a bachelor's degree typically supports EB-3, while a master's degree in applied behavior analysis or a related field may support EB-2 classification through USCIS.
