Green Card Boiler Engineer Jobs
Boiler Engineer roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which requires your employer to document that no qualified U.S. worker is available before filing your I-140 immigrant petition. Industrial facilities, power generation companies, and mechanical contractors are among the employers who sponsor foreign engineers for permanent residency.

Match your credentials to PERM requirements
PERM labor certification ties your application to a specific job description and minimum requirements. Get your foreign engineering degree evaluated by a NACES-accredited credential evaluator before applying, so your qualifications align exactly with what the employer lists on the ETA 9089.
Target industries with established PERM pipelines
Power generation plants, chemical processing facilities, and district heating operators regularly sponsor Boiler Engineers through PERM because the role is hard to fill domestically. Focusing your search on these sectors shortens the path from offer to green card filing.
Search green card sponsorship history on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Boiler Engineer roles by employers with active green card sponsorship history. This lets you skip companies that have never filed PERM and focus on those already familiar with the EB-2 and EB-3 process.
Verify your role meets EB-3 skilled worker criteria
Boiler Engineer positions typically qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers requiring at least two years of training or experience. Review the O*NET occupation profile for your specific job title to confirm the DOL-recognized requirements before your employer drafts the PERM job description.
Ask employers about prevailing wage before accepting offers
DOL requires employers to pay at least the prevailing wage for your work location before PERM certification. Run the OFLC Wage Search tool yourself to know the Level I through Level IV wage range for your metro area, so you can identify underpaying offers early.
Understand how PERM timelines affect your start date
PERM processing at DOL currently runs many months before the I-140 even reaches USCIS. Factor this into your job negotiations: request that employers start the PERM process promptly after your hire date rather than waiting for your first performance review.
Green Card Boiler Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Boiler Engineer role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Boiler Engineer positions qualify under EB-3 as skilled worker roles, since DOL recognizes them as requiring at least two years of specialized training or experience. If you hold a master's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field and the employer's job description requires that level of education, the same role could qualify under EB-2. Your employer's immigration attorney typically makes this determination when drafting the PERM labor certification.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for Boiler Engineers?
Unlike the H-1B visa, EB-3 green card sponsorship has no annual lottery and leads to permanent residency rather than a time-limited work authorization. The trade-off is timeline: PERM labor certification alone can take six months or more before USCIS even receives your I-140 petition. For most countries other than India and China, priority dates move relatively quickly at the EB-3 level, making the permanent route more predictable than waiting on H-1B selection.
What does the PERM labor certification process require from a Boiler Engineer candidate?
Your employer must conduct a mandatory recruitment campaign to demonstrate no qualified U.S. worker is available for the role. During this period, you cannot be hired into the position yet. You'll need to supply your employer with documented evidence of your qualifications, including your foreign degree evaluation, any relevant certifications such as a steam engineer license, and prior employment records that match the PERM job description exactly.
How can I find Boiler Engineer jobs that include green card sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search for Boiler Engineer openings specifically filtered by employers with a green card sponsorship history. This removes the guesswork of identifying which industrial employers have actually filed PERM applications for engineering roles, so you're targeting companies already set up to run the full EB-2 or EB-3 process rather than those encountering it for the first time.
Do state boiler engineer license requirements affect my green card application?
Many states require a licensed steam engineer or boiler operator certificate to work on high-pressure systems, and some PERM job descriptions will list state licensure as a minimum requirement. If your home country certification isn't directly transferable, you may need to pass a state exam before your employer can include you in PERM recruitment. Confirm licensing requirements with your target state's labor or public safety agency before your employer finalizes the ETA 9089 job description.
