The Role
We're looking for a Brand Designer who builds brands that stop people mid-scroll and keep them consistent across every touchpoint, from a conference booth to an email send. As a key creative hire on our Marketing team, you'll own the visual and brand identity for a company in the middle of a meaningful repositioning. You won't be starting from zero, but you'll have real latitude to evolve what exists and raise the bar. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of brand strategy and hands-on craft. You'll build design systems that are AI-native from the ground up: structured so repeatable work can be automated, delegated to agents, or executed by teammates without your direct involvement. That's not about doing less. It's about freeing yourself up for the creative challenges worth your full attention. We're in-person 5 days a week from our bright, airy offices in the Mission (San Francisco) and Chelsea Market (New York).
- Own Assembled's visual identity within the marketing context: brand system, design language, typography, color, motion, and everything in between
- Design and art-direct core marketing materials: website, email campaigns, event assets, ads, swag, sales collateral, and more
- Build AI-native design systems, including templates, design files, component libraries, and guidelines that AI tools and teammates can execute from reliably
- Automate repeatable production tasks (asset resizing, templated collateral, social variants, email layouts) so your time stays focused on higher-order creative work
- Translate positioning and messaging into creative that resonates with CX and support leaders who are skeptical of hype and respond to clarity
- Lead creative on campaigns, product launches, and events from concept through execution
- Set the creative bar and manage relationships with designers, contractors, and agency partners
What You Bring
- 5 to 8 years of brand design or creative direction experience at a high-growth startup or at an agency working with B2B tech clients
- A portfolio showing range: opinionated brand work and practical, conversion-driven marketing assets
- A genuine AI adopter mindset: you've integrated AI tools into your workflow, you know where they accelerate your work, and you're actively exploring what's next
- Strong strategic instincts and the ability to translate ambiguous inputs into clear creative direction
- Proficiency with the full Adobe and Figma suite; motion/video experience is a plus
- Experience building and documenting design systems that hold up under real-world team usage
- High ownership orientation: you move fast, make judgment calls, and know when to ask for alignment versus just shipping
- Collaborative by default: you take feedback well, give it generously, and bring stakeholders along without designing by committee
Our U.S. Benefits
- Generous medical, dental, and vision benefits
- Paid company holidays, sick time, and unlimited time off
- Monthly credits to spend on each: professional development, general wellness, Assembled customers, and commuting
- Paid parental leave
- Catered lunches every day (M-F) and fully stocked kitchen
- 401(k) plan enrollment
The estimated base salary range for this role is $150,000 - $190,000 per year. The base pay offered may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Stock options are provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
We know great candidates don’t always meet every requirement listed in a job description. If the role excites you and you believe you can make an impact at Assembled, we encourage you to apply. We value diverse perspectives and are committed to building an inclusive workplace where everyone feels like they belong and has the opportunity to do their best work. We look forward to hearing from you!

Document your degree's design relevance
PERM requires your degree field to directly match the Brand Designer role's educational requirement. If your degree is in a adjacent field like fine arts or marketing, gather transcripts and a credential evaluation showing coursework in visual communication or branding before your employer files.
Verify the job posting meets PERM standards
The DOL requires employers to post the Brand Designer role publicly as part of recruitment testing. Confirm your offer letter lists a bachelor's degree in a design-related field as the minimum requirement, not just 'preferred,' or the PERM application can be rejected.
Target employers with PERM filing history
Use Migrate Mate to filter Brand Designer openings by employers who have previously filed PERM labor certifications. Companies with an established immigration process move faster and are less likely to abandon sponsorship mid-filing when OFLC processing stretches past 500 days.
Ask about SOC code classification upfront
Employers file PERM under a Standard Occupational Classification code that determines the prevailing wage requirement. Brand Designer roles can fall under Graphic Designers or Art Directors depending on seniority. Confirm which code your employer intends to use before your priority date is locked in.
Check the prevailing wage before negotiating salary
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the Level I through Level IV prevailing wage for the Brand Designer SOC code in your work location. Your employer must pay at least the certified wage, so knowing the floor before salary discussions protects your sponsorship eligibility.
Understand EB-2 versus EB-3 filing implications
Most Brand Designer roles qualify under EB-3 as professional positions requiring a bachelor's degree. EB-2 requires an advanced degree or a National Interest Waiver, which is rare for design roles. Confirm with your employer which category they intend to file under before accepting the offer.
Green Card Brand Designer: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Brand Designer role qualify for employment-based green card sponsorship?
Yes. Brand Designer positions that require a bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field qualify under the EB-3 professional category. Roles requiring a master's degree or offering an advanced-degree professional track may qualify under EB-2. The employer must file a PERM labor certification with DOL before submitting an I-140 immigrant petition to USCIS.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for a Brand Designer?
H-1B visa sponsorship is temporary, capped at 65,000 registrations annually, and subject to a lottery. Green card sponsorship through PERM is permanent, has no annual cap at the petition stage, and leads to lawful permanent residency. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM and I-140 processing can take two to three years before you even reach the visa queue, whereas H-1B status can begin within months.
How long does the PERM green card process take for a Brand Designer?
PERM labor certification at DOL currently averages over 500 calendar days for analyst review cases. After certification, your employer files an I-140 with USCIS, which takes six to eight months on standard processing or two to three weeks with premium processing. If you're from a backlogged country like India or China, the visa queue after I-140 approval can add years. Most other nationalities move to adjustment of status within one to two years of I-140 approval.
What should I look for in a Brand Designer job listing to confirm green card sponsorship is available?
Look for explicit language stating the employer will sponsor employment-based permanent residency or file a PERM labor certification, not just H-1B or 'work authorization assistance.' The job description should list a specific degree requirement rather than 'preferred,' since PERM requires a defined minimum qualification. Use Migrate Mate to search Brand Designer roles filtered by employers with active green card sponsorship history, which removes the guesswork from your search.
Can I switch employers during the green card process as a Brand Designer?
You can change employers after your I-140 has been approved for 180 days and your adjustment of status application has been pending for at least 180 days, using AC21 portability. The new role must be in the same or a similar occupational classification. For Brand Designers, moving to a closely related design or creative role typically qualifies, but a shift into a management or unrelated field may not. Consult USCIS guidance on AC21 portability before making a move.
